Post Door Swing History

I have noticed that earlier trailers including I believe the Gold Annodized Special of Wally Byam, had the entry door in a Left-Hand-Out-Swing configuration (aka *Hinge-right). Most of the VATs I have seen are Right-Hand-Out-Swing (aka *Hinge-left). (these are descriptive terms used in the millwork and construction industries for entry doors).

Actually it seems to me that the rarer LH-Out Swing would be an advantage. It would eliminate the sprung door that comes open in transit and slams back against the starboard fusilage.

Any idea of why the change was made?

The only thing I see is that on some models the open door would obscure part of a front side window.

I'm not suggesting this is important, but I thought it might have some interest.

* Hinge-right and Hinge-left are generally used in desscribing residential storm doors and the orientation is always with the door opening out toward you.

Door swing

My Right-Hand-Out-Swing door unfortunately covers half of the refrigerator vents when open. The refrigerator works better in hot weather when the AC is on than it does in cooler weather when the door is open a lot.
