Dealer said "Typo" on bi-fold oven cvr.
We are about to take possession of our new Safari-25 and found that there was no cover on for the 3-burner cook-top. The Airstream "sticker" showed a 3-burner stove/oven with bi-fold cover. The salesperson told us that is a 'typo' and the '04's DO NOT come with the burner bi-fold cover. Can any '04 owners confirm this?

The "typo" appears to extend to the photo used on their website, which clearly pictures the folding stove top cover on the virtual tour of the 25' Safari.
If I was writing the check, it would contain a "typo" as well.

Hope that you did not write the check yet.
It looks to me as if the salesman is trying to pull a fast one.

Hard to believe that it would not come with a cover. Check it out with the factory.

I think the easiest thing to do is call the factory and ask. Everytime that I have contacted them, they have been more than helpful.

Call Airstream... tell them we sent'cha. This forum gets a lot of press with the factory. I think they'll help you. I'd also mention what your dealer said.

I'll call Airstream today, but I can't help but feel if he lied about this, do I want to give him my business. We are supposed to have our final walk-through & pick it up tomorrow.

ditch the sale
I would call another dealer and tell them you are ready to sign papers if they will match price.
Show the Bogus dealer what a 100 dollar item cost them including their reputation.

I've been thinking about this all night, lost sleep over it. It seems like such a small thing, but is that just the 'tip of the iceberg'?. It now becomes a credibility issue.

I would go over the salesman's head to a sales manager or General manager...after calling the factory and asking about whether it is supposed to be there or not. Unfortunately a lot of salespeople don't know their product or are lazy and don't want to go the extra little bit to help a customer out, especially if they think the sale is completed. BTW before I get flamed...I work in sales too, and believe me the customer comes first, and if they ask a question or believe something is wrong I will get the answer for them with documentation. IMHO if the dealer is willing to blow a sale over a stove cover they aren't worth dealing with. I have walked out of more sales deals due to the type of additude that you are dealing with...I can't stand an arrogant sales person.

If you haven't written the final check, tell him you'll be at home waiting to close the deal when they get the folding top. Should the top on the Safari cooktop match the countertop like it does on the Classic?

Please post your findings. The picture on the website is fairly dated. My '04 did not come with the stovetop cover either. At some point when they switched over to the new stainless looking fridge and stove, the cover seems to have been '86d.

IIRC, there's a stainless cover available for the cook-tops and ovens.

How do I find one? The counter top space in the 25 is VERY sm., we could use the space.

My neighbor brought home an '04 Safari two months ago and his has the ss appliances without the cover (my '03 is the black scheme and includes the cover). Doesn't sound right and I agree that it adds valuable space when closed.
Good luck (I'd love to convert all the fronts of my stuff to ss if it were reasonable).

My biggest relief was knowing the sales-rep was not 'winging it'!

The galley counter space problem on the 25' is perhaps the worst of all the coaches. Too much is crammed in too little space. My solution was a new countertop, a two burner cooktop, and a single bowl sink. Not likely to be an attractive option for someone with a brand new coach. (click on the "photos" button below to see what it looks like).
For the life of me, I cannot see why Airstream does not offer something like this as an option in the 25'.
Some people have installed flip up counter extensions on the end - but it blocks the entry door.
You may want to try RV salvage yards for a cooktop cover. It is amazing how many nearly new RVs are totaled on a regular basis. You may very well be able to find one that is as new.

<Airstream "sticker" showed a 3-burner stove/oven with bi-fold cover> Seems to me if it is shown on the web also, this item should materialize. Otherwise it looks like false advertising to me.
