Featherbedder= Because Railroad Conductor 40 yrs. Survived the push by Railroads and our Fed. Gov. to take away our rights which they did in 1969 by firing all firemen under 10 yrs. service, [these were our trainee future engineers]. They all called us featherbedders. It is still a sore spot when I had to go to work for $3.68 per day. So this is my user name. PS. We did not get back pay or a raise for this injustice. Bill

Follow up it was 1971 that this took place not 1969. We did not have no strike clause in contract, Fed. Judge rode North Western into chgo. stated i will have ride, US Pres. stated I will not allow Unions to strike, Things downhill to this day.

FreshAir

8 years ago to this month we bought our '66 Trade Wind. It was an impulse eBay purchase that was 800 miles away. Further the impulse was that both Lynn and I were recovering from serious health issues. I had 3 major surgeries within a year and just before the 3rd, my second hip replacement, Lynn suffered a stroke that was very disabling. Somehow we decided to plan something to look forward to during our recoveries. I could not drive to get the Trade Wind, in fact I wasn't to drive for at least 6 mos. A good...very good friend volunteered to pack us and our walkers into his Ford 250 and drive us that 800 miles then back with our shiny "ThAIRapy". I had been a member of the Forums for just a few months with my name as my forum name. It wasn't long before we decided that our name should sound positive and cheerful. We tow the Trade Wind with a red '71 Buick convertible (we have added a '69 Olds Ninety Eight 4 door hardtop) so we created "FreshAir".....fresh air streaming through our hair and Streaming with our Trade Wind.

When I took my wife on her first trip in the rig she commented on how you could see more from the front seats sitting above all the cars: she had always driven or ridden in small, two seat sports cars after her initial VW bug. A little later, once we escaped the urban traffic, she commented again on how being free to stay or go anywhere and choose the route and pace meant we would definitely see more. It stuck. The trailer became Instead because we would be doing the RV thing instead of another option.

Luca Blue is our two year old Labrador. When she was a puppy, she was so black that she appeared blue. Her name was Luca and the Blue just stuck.

We have no children, there is just the two of us. Hence, Luca Blue Plus 2.

After all with no offspring it really is all bout her!

My wife and i were in a small bus station in southern mexico on the pacific coast. We were the only english speaking folks in the place at the time and my spanish was just barely adequate to get by. When i went to the counter to buy tickets the beautiful young lady behind the desk asked for my name. I told her my name was michael spencer. When i sat down and my wife and i looked at our tickets, the young lady had spelled my first name MAYCO instead of michael. We both liked it! My wife has called me MAYCO ever since. Ill answer to about anything i guess.

The nickname for New Zealanders is 'Kiwi', the abbreviation for Airstream is 'AS', and camping is a very Kiwi thing to do: it's 'kiwi as'. So an Airstreamer in New Zealand must be KiwiAS. As it happens, Airstreamers in NZ are even rarer and more improbable than the treasured flightless, brown bird. Greetings from the antipodes!

My wife and I travel with two German Shepherds and one little mix dog. We purchased the Interstate to make it easier to travel with the dogs. We joke that this is the most expensive "crate" we have purchased for our dogs. I just turned a hobby of making custom secure dog crates for SUVs and RVs into a start up business and use the same name.

Hi, I thought for sure you were going to say that you worked at "May Co." for thirty years.

We have 2 Boykin Spaniels and they have curly, brown hair. The Boykin Spaniel is the South Carolina state dog, hence scbrowndogs !

I have one of those jobs filled with Type "A" personalities. One day one of my clients said "I like you. You're a laid back one"......

I liked that!
