Cracker box after cracker box.

We took The Peppy over this morning to an rv repair place to have the gasket replaced on the a/c we were told they are really good, honest and nice folks to deal with (well see) anyway as we pulled in you had to drive through all the new sob trailers I looked over at my husband and said look at all these new cracker boxes they were everywhere I cant help it they all look like a cracker box to me and those 5th wheels sure would hate to have the gas and fuel prices that poor truck goes through. As we drove to the back to park Peppy I looked around and saw all the cracker boxes there for repair (many) as the service guy came out and we were talking I asked him how old some of them where, one was 3 years old, 4 years old and some as old as 6 years old. As he took my info on the Peppy he asked and what year is it and I kinda laughed and stated he's 31 years old (75)
Those campers that were only a few years old looked tired and old and worn out. I'm so glad we bought the Airstream. Yes we may all gripe about the money we have to spend to keep them going down the road but my goodness look what you would spend on a new cracker box and after a few years what you have.

rebelbeck,
that is how I found my Silver Queen she was in the midst of the SOB's but still showed her regal air.

Love the song, brings back memories of when I first heard it. I thought it was so profound. I still s'pose it is. Though I am cutting everyone much more slack these days in my old(er) age.

When we, the sons and daughters of the Greatest Generation, displayed our gratitude by declaring that God was dead, love was free, the establishment was bad, drugs were mind expanding, and the homes our parents had built after winning WWII to shelter their precious children were nothing but ticky-tacky. Yeah, far out, man.

I balked at the sacred conformity and hypocritical maintenence of the appearance of the accepted status quo at all costs that made me the special brand of drop out brat I was and am today.

As a product of the 60's-70's and a fine art education I've always been looked at, sometimes down at, as a non-conformist. I've always asked "why be normal." Now I've found that I'm not alone.... I have all my friends on the Airstream Forums who are just like me, in so many ways.
We stroll to a different drummer...marching is for conformity....

As the saying goes, "Conform, go crazy or become an artist" or in this case an "Airstreamist."

Great point Becky!
Not to go too far afield here..What a hilarious thread!!
Cute link...those 60s and 70s were sure interesting
in elementary school, our cool and superfavorite student teacher brought in a guitar and sang the words to Desiderata you know with the refrain "you are a child of the universe...you have the right to be here."

Then my babysitter balanced out the world view with National Lampoon's version of the song, now when I hear the song all I can think is well the National Lampoon version did suggest that I rotate my tires...

Desiderata text is pretty cool. I think I will assemble a "happiness" book for reading in the Airstream, this goes in there too!

Now just when is the WBCCI rallies going to have some theme more current than back to the 50's? Let's all grow our hair for the next International, have a real sock hop and a hootenany, --Peter Paul and Mary still around? Woodstock Airstream style. Maybe get Goldie Hawn to do a Laugh-in bit.

It might be added, peace to all the children in the white boxes of the universe, they are merely Airstreamers who have not as yet seen the light.

Good idea. We could call it an "Aluman In"
I'll get rid of my tambor doors and put strings of beads in their place.
Cut up your old trailer tires and make groovy sandals from the tread.
Trouble is nowadays I don't have enough hair left to grow it long.
I might could find some old paisley socks though.
They'd look real cool with the sandals...

Love it Jerry, "Aluman In" sounds like a cool forums rally. How about an amateur show, and a good Sonny and Cher. Flea market specials on macrame, mood rings, and crocheted vest, sand and ice candles. And someone bring some real speakers and music for a change.

Becky bring the cloths and make a few shirts! Or we can tie and dye our own on premises for laughs.

We don't need no stinkin hair, atitude will do.
