could have, others say should have, but didn't

I'm a very recent first time owner/member - having taken possession of a neglected '95 30ft Excella. i've spent the last 3-4 weeks of a wonderful Indian summer scraping caulk, replacing a couple of vents, and resealing the roof, and exploring the dreaded floor rot along the rear bumper, as well as checking out the other mechanical systems (so far so good, except the fridge & tires). I think it's certainly recoverable if I do the work, otherwise the cost would be prohibitive.

On Sunday, an older Chevy pickup with a Florida plate pulled into my driveway, occupied by a 65+ couple. They looked tired and not in the best of health, and they offered money on the spot for the AS. They didn't say a word about their past, but as I looked at their faces, vehicle and possessions, it seemed that they were refugees who'd lost just about everything during Irma. I gave the guy a tour and an honest assessment of the condition, and they stlll persisted with an offer that was more than double than I paid a month ago. I said I would think about it overnight and consider their offer.

I'm relieved that they didn't return yesterday. Although I think the AS is ok in a climate that is more temperate in a Michigan winter, I haven't carefully evaluated the plumbing, furnace, or the frame and other substructure. I would not have sold the trailer to them as a domicile without knowing more about their ability to manage any potential problems. I didn't want to add to their problems.

I did catch the name of the local parish church that they're attending, and so I think I'll give the pastor a call, and see if I can help in a different and anonymous way.
