Considering buying an Airstream...

I currently have a 2001 Fleetwood fibre glass sided trailer (31 ft) which I tow infrequently, mostly use at the lake as a cottage. I am getting a little tired of "de-lamination" and so am looking to replace with something that will hold up better. I have always admired Airstreams and am now considering purchasing one to be used primarily as a summer cottage - until the cabin is built, then for light touring... So I have a couple of questions...
1) Is the Airstream suitable for my purposes?
2) What are the big watchouts and maintenance items that I will need to be aware of - don't want to trade de-lamination for other maintenance issues - have read a little bit about plasticote issues...
3) Am considering a '92 - 25ft Excella - anything that I should be concerned with? What would be a fair price...

Thank you
