Clear coat

Hello, I just joined air forums and only last week bought my first airstream. My wife and I are looking forward to monthly outings (if only an overnighter). We bought a 1985 Sovering 25' and she is a beauty,, in original condition. She has been "polished & clear coated" and shines beautiful. My question is how do I keep that beautiful luster. We live in San Diego and the coach stays outside in the driveway. Should I cover it, wash it with soap, wax, or buff it?

Clear coat

Never, ever, ever put a cover over an Airstream. The aluminum will get permanent unsightly wear marks in it from the cover touching the skin.

Wash with mild soap, wax with a non-abrasive car wax. Have a look in the forums for many, many opinions on what to use. I don't have a dog in that fight. Ours in a 2007, and I wash it only when it gets really disgusting.

San Diego--my favorite city. Lived there 17 years and still visit from Corona, CA area (just a few miles south of Anaheim on the 15 freeway). Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the convincing info on a cover. For now I'll wash it only.
