Cheney Airstream

I heard a number of times that Mr. Cheney is an Airstream owner, and he takes his Airstream with him even when he goes by plane (compliments of Mr adn Mrs John Q Taxpayer), here is a reference to it in a CNN article:

I don't get it, was CNN trying to make a political point or just trying to inform the public? It's no surprise to me that the President and Vice President (and now, seemingly the Speaker of the House) travel in luxury (no matter the political party affiliation).

The special converted Airstream actually belongs to the Airforce who are in charge of White House Transportation. It is housed at Dover AFB when not in use. The AS does not specifially belong to anyone individual but is available as certain needs arrise. Trust me, when traveling in a C-130 it is well worth having the AS for noise insulation and a few comforts.

Political point. Think Ted Turner and Wolf Blitzer ( Rush Limbaugh of the left).

The C-141's used to be real screamers, too. I wonder if the C-17's are any better?

The C-17 III is a much better Aircraft, larger and four jet engines rather than props. What makes the C-130 so great it can land anywhere!

I am sure Ms. Pelosi is not traveling via Greyhound.

A warm and fuzzy story about one of America's most loved public figures with a few of his closest friends. I think I'm gonna be sick.

That's kind of a cool article about VP Cheney. The 40' silver bullet is one heck of a long trailer. Got any sway control on that plane?

Having an AS inside any military transport airplane for long distance VIP transportation is VERY cost effective, vs. keeping a whole fleet of luxurious jets large enough to accomodate a senior government official, their support staff and the ever present reporters.

BTW - Has anyone else ever wondered why our government has to provide news reporters with free space on US government owned airplanes? If the networks want to sell their photo ops (and generally critical comments) on US television, why can't they pay for their own transportation?
