TSLanier, what is it that you are needing help with? Go ahead and post your question here and maybe someone can point you in the right direction.

Hi Stewart -- I would agree that you can start an impromptu chat by PM-ing a member online at the time, asking them to go to chat and talk something over. ....or open a thread proposing chat on a particular topic, say, on a night different from the Tuesday social session.

Getting bumped is still a problem even though some of the other forums were switched to different equipment two weeks ago. I don't have a lot of specific info but know the technical side of AS Forums is still being looked into. Things have tended to fall apart at around 400 members & guests viewing. Last night I actually saw about 900 viewing and it was still up and running!

And summerkid ...

Why can't I find the warn meter button when I need it? Guess I have to sign in to do that. Just kidding... Well, I have to stop typing now -- my washboard abs allow sitting too close to the monitor and I'm getting eyestrain.

I tried for about 1/2 hr or more to post rally photos. As soon as I tried to upload, I would get the "page not found" message or something similar. I was able to post them later in the PM.

You're too much!

Chat night

Chat night is about fellowship, like the fresh pot of coffee in the narthex after the service etc.
It took me a bit to figure that out also.
If you have questions search here on this forum or simply start a thread with a question(your question).
There are people here who will be able to quote the threads(by web address), thread by thread or if the question is unique someone will have at best the answer or at least be able to suggest step by step troubleshooting advise that will lead you to your solution.

well, there WERE photos until some moderator who cannot be named nimbly merged 2 threads & deleted 2 years' worth of people's photos, thereby quelling that endeavor. maybe it's time to get back on the bronc that bucked us ....

Another thing about the Chat room...it is open 24/7/365. We have a couple of members that log on to the chat while they are surfing the forums. Remcolet is one, and if you are on the forums the Chat Room link on the blue bar will show that there is x number of people on chat, so if you see a number check in and chat a while. I don't always think to log into to chat, but will try to make the effort.

TSLanier, I was busy and didn't get on Chat Tuesday night, but ten minutes is probably not enough time to get a real idea of the room. Because people do grow to feel like friends on this forum, often the talk in Chat gets silly or seems "off Airstream," yet it's really still related because that's why we're here to begin with. I usually find some of the men deep in technical discussions that are WAY over my head or that touch on issues that don't (yet!) concern me. At the same time, there may be one or several other conversations going on between others on Chat at the same time. (Yes, it can be pretty confusing at first, but bear with it.) What you have to do is jump in, introduce yourself, tell the group where you are from, and what Airstream you have, and then ask away-one question, or several if that is your need. The Chat friends on line will not ignore your questions! They LOVE to discuss and diagnose and share/compare experiences. If your first Chat time on this forum was a disappointment, do try again this next week. Jump in, let everyone know you are there, and pop a question. You'll be pleased at the response. ~G

K, I've learned alot about chat room proticol, I'm not as bold as some.
So I have never entered the chat room, thought it was for some elitist clique. But sounds like I can participate in some of the Tuesday Night Festivities.
I'm working on my abs and can do it w/beer, introduce myself and do my best to interject appropriately. Does that cover it?
OOH and I got bumped off tuesday night also. Thought it was my computer or line. Glad to know twas not!

I have to agree that there is a lot of general rowdiness in chat. But if you ask a question and say that you're new, you will get some help.

I got some step by step instructions on how to change an axle in chat. It was extremely useful and I was able to ask questions as needed. Ignore the baad spelling and shortened sentances in chat, and have fun.

Chat problems?

I attempted several times to enter the chat room last night without success. I have been there several times before, so it's not a problem of me knowing how. After clicking on "enter chat room" I got a blank grey screen.

Sounds like the Java client is not starting when you enter the chat room. You may want to reinstall the product.
