Thumbs up

This type of antenna works great. Not long range. They work through the same concept as a capacitor.

I have same antenna

I have used the same antenna in a big Airstream caravan and I found that I had about as good range as those with hard-wired antennas.

CB radio: "If you can see 'em there's a pretty good chance you can talk to 'em!"

Those "on the glass" antennas are the same as the old cellular antennas, though not quite as effecient at 27 Mhz as they are on 800 Mhz.

*Remembering when it was cool to have a cellular antenna on car*

Smile Thru glass antenna

I was hoping you would'nt ask that ;-)
at approximatly 27 MHZ and depending on this and that lets say, south america.
You see at that frequency it all depends on probagation levels. I would say a good rule of thunb is line of site mixed with the horizon. Lets say you in a valley, then your only going to get to the hills more or less. But if your on the plains, well you would most likely get to the horizon.

Clean installation

Do a search on CB. I posted some photos a long time ago of the installation in my truck. I have the Cobra with the controls in the head. The little box at the end of the curly cord is in my overhead console with the connector coming out between the console and the headliner. The antenna is at the top right of the windshield with the excess antenna wire hidden in the console. I hang the Cobra head in the notch on the cover of the sunglass holder. That way, it is right by my ear and easy to reach.

I was recently next to last in a 18-trailer convoy, well spread out. I could hear and talk to everyone and had to repeat transmissions for some that were close to me that had hard-wired antennas.

You're dating yourself man!
But I remember that one too.
It's one of those songs that brings back a particular time and place.
I think it was about 74. I was in the Navy out in the Bay Area.
Thanks for the grin.

Cool Well, personally, I have a penchant...

...for "export" type CB radios and certain boxes that wire in between the radio and the antenna and plug into the cigarette lighter. I've been given to understand that an inductively coupled antenna (thru the glass) will pretty much melt and drop off under those circumstances. Matter of fact, a magnetic mount antenna can conceivably make a heat mark on your roof under those circumstances, too.

I'd go for a good magnetic antenna, like a Wilson 1000, placed right in the middle of your cab roof for the best ground plane... then you can talk to people you can't see!
