Can't buy an Airstream

I want to buy a 30 or so AS from 2011 on up. I have tried to contact three members who advertise in our classified section. None of the three replied. I contacted another three on RV Trader and none of those replied. How do I buy an AS. Thanks

Check with the Airstream Park in Clear Lake, MN. There are always a few for sale there.

Based on my own experience in buying our AS on the Forums classified section, my best advice is to only consider those ads who have listed a phone number and use that as your method contact. I never had any luck with getting a response to an ad posted that did not have a phone number.

Were the three Airforums ads from actual active members or from people who signed up just to place an ad? Getting no response is all to common here from non active members. This site has no requirements to post. Because of this we get all kinds of scammers.

Didn't anyone teach you the secret handshake? You're not allowed to buy an Airstream til you know that.

On the other hand, I bought by 2005 Classic from a guy with zero posts off the classifieds.

I found my used 2011 Classic by watching Colonial Airstream's used list for about 8 months. The good ones come and go fast. The advantage of Colonial is that you know that even though it's used you get it with everything working. Ask for Patrick but he didn't do much selling. Our trailer sold itself.

Same here. We wanted a recliner model and waited for months until one came available. Called up, made an offer, picked it up a couple weeks later. They also ship them.

Even the special handshake does not cancel out the victim card. Airstreaming requires active participation to purchase, maintain, use, and tow. If you have the right stuff to become an Airstreamer, you will figure it out. Just don't forget to bring money. If you want a gift, see the SOB owners. They are much more accomodating.

Good luck! Pat

Ditto on this. I scoured Forums Classifieds for a good six months before our "right" AS came along and it ended up only being 40 minutes from home. So if you really want an AS, hang in there.

Hand in there it will eventually work.

The adds all get approved at the same time so that's how come they are clumped together like that.

I suggested a mod contacting the SELLER (by the required forum method) FIRST to see if they respond to that then they can post the add.

Most just forget to log back in and check and many forget to cancel their add.

A lot of times the trailers are sold and the poster has not indicated or cancelled the ad. That is a big reason why you don't get responses.

Craigslist is a good place to shop. Just be careful, Airstreams seem to be one of he preferred big shiny lures for scammers who are only after your email for spam.

Jack,

That brings up another question:

Why can't I delete an add I placed. (If I can I can't figure out how).

I marked it sold, However all my contact information still shows up. I edited it all out piece by piece, but I prefer the add would be gone completely.
