Camping Tips

Here is a little trick I came up with.

We don't have an awing ... So we had purchased a beach umbrella. The campsites usually have picnic tables but no easy way to put up the umbrella.

So I used a C clamp with a short peice of PVC tubing with 1-1/2" ID and used metal clamps to fasten to the C clamp. This made a nice portable mount for the umbrella.

Check out some pics....

Tell us your camping tip!

That's a great idea! We also don't have an awning, and sometimes we could really use a little shade. Holds your tablecloth on too!

Nice trick, Tim. Our Safari also does not have an awning, YET. ( Oh, it will someday, I promise!) Since we camp so far only in Michigan we've been lucky enough to almost always be under trees. But the thing that actually makes me jealous of the awning owners is the ability to string lights on them. I have been mentally working on a rig of some sort that attaches from the awning rail to trees or other supports that you can string lights on ( at least until we get an awning 8?)). This involves a piece of rope, with wire in it for stiffening, and a hook of some sort to clip the lights on. This then would allow lights to run from the camper to say the nearest tree. Only works if you have trees and they allow you to tie something to them.

Tim where were you camping in that picture? My wife and I love the Monterey Bay/Big Sur area and my dream is to at LimeKiln state park, overlooking the ocean, followed by a Big Sur creekside campsite at Pfieffer Big Sur state park. Just too bad even getting the Airstream out there would take a vacation by itself.
