Campground Recommendation
Hey Folks,
Looking for ideas of where to take 27' FC for first voyage. We've had it since last August but life has gotten in the way and have not taken out. Criminal I Know!
We live in San Antonio TX area and are looking for someplace within a couple of hours that has full services (50amp) and is relatively easy to park at. We've got a much more ambitious trip planned late May / early June.
Just looking for a good place to setup, put all the systems thru their paces and have a nice area to relax, walk and enjoy.
Any help appreciated!
Mark

NTAC the Airstream community in Hillsboro,Texas. Great people and a good place to work the bugs out if there are any.Lots of fellow owners to help you. Other choices Matagorda Island,Rockport and Fulton.
Enjoy your trip.

The Texas Alamo Unit is having a rally at the Lagoons RV Resort (a very nice park with all amenities) in Rockport April 30-May 3rd. We'd love to have you join us.

Buy the Texas State Park yearly pass. That way you get into any state park free and they give you 1/2 price discounts for 3 or 4 nights. Check out their website for details and start planning trips to a different state park.

Also their are some Corp of Engineer campgrounds on Canyon Lake that have 50amp electricity. Go to www.recreation.gov to check them out and reserve.
I don't like private RV campgrounds since the majority of them are glorified parking lots.

I just checked Inks Lake State Park and they have 50amp service. I would think most do but probably best to check each park you are interested in visiting. However, if your AS is parked in the shade maybe you can get away with one AC.

I second Kerrville park. Not certain on the 50 amp, but lots of pull through spots which are nice if you are new at this. Sites are not all level however. For something easy and accommodating for your shakedown, consider Peach Country in Stonewall. We spent our first night there the day we bought our AS. Large pull through sites, level and set up for big rigs. It was perfect for our initial experience. Everything is probably already full though given how good the bluebonnets are this year. We have also enjoyed the city park in Mason. Not as well known so may have better availability.
