Big membership discrepancy?
How come there are over 11,000 members of this forum, but if you look at the member list there are only a little over 4600 members listed?
Did someone weed the membership list?

My understanding is, you only show up on the membership list after your first post. The missing people have never posted.

One of the little quirks of the forums software is that members don't show up in the viewable lists until they have posted at least once. They are however, added to the total number that you see at the top of the page with the other stats... we have loads of lurkers!
Who wouldn't want to chat with us...? Go figure!

hi janet and others....
does that explain why guests no longer show up on the "who's on line" list...used to be able to see which threard each guest was viewing.....?
i just thought all those unaccounted, accounts were people. who had been
banned or weeded out, for posts that were too smart or not funny....
cheers

We also have many members with multiple personalities...some intentional and some not! They have signed up more than once or forgot their ID's/passwords, etc. So some ID's are not used but still "count". An easy-ish way to track this is in the birthday section...sometimes there are two similar IDs with the same b-day.
If you suspect that you may bave multiple IDs and would like them merged, just ask a mod to help ~

Membership
What about those with multiple personalities? They want a membership for each one, but not every one of them may wish to make posts! Do you hear the voices in your head? LoL ... Ed

I always blame such things on my evil twin brother and his girlfriends Sybil.

4,000....11,000 seems like there are only so many who want to "speak" here anyway you count them.
Guess its like that with most web sites like this, some will read and peruse and glean what they can, others (like me) are wordy contributors, not afraid to ask and answer as I can while also gleaning and learning.

Thanks for bringing this up. I found the setting and changed this so that all members will show up. Please check the member list and report back that things are working ok now!

Sorry about that setting being off before. It is so cool to look for all the 1961 Bambi owners on the forums in Texas! Talk about a great way to see members in your region or with the same trailer/motorhome. Can you belive we have over 200 members offering courtesy parking!
This is a great resource for all of us, so please make sure your info is complete and up-to-date. Over time I will continute to include various member profile tid-bits in emails so we can try our hardest to keep our CRM info clean and up-to-date.
Also, I did notice the inspector lists are not showing right. I will have to look into that bug and report back...

I too was curious about what our guests (or spiders) were reading.

The reason the who's online is not showing the pages is because of the SQL query that is needed to show that. It is very resource intensive so I had to turn it off...

Hi the community;
I've checked the new members list and there is so many people inscribed with 0 (zero ) post ....
I wondered what was the interest to get an inscription in a forum without discussing... at least one time...
may be to own in a community ...why not but it's a mystery .
Bruno.

It's quite ok to have lurkers on the forums. Could you imagine being at a rally and every person there was talking at the same time (well, bad example, that might actaully happen and would be fun). I feel lurkers are quite ok and am glad they joined.
You will even notice that we have over 200 courtesy parking members and many of them have never made a post. So they might not have joined to participate in the discussions (yet) but they might still be participating in other ways (links, photos, campground reviews, classifieds, etc).
Bruno, I just realized that all 3 member from France have posted. Nice showing!

how about a new name for folks who join but don't post!
hi bruno, andyr and tom
i realize it is a web convention to call these folks the "L" word....but it's a creepy name. i remember the first time someone called me that on a list serv.....i was offended. and even after finding the new usage/definition.....it still seemed cheesey....
where does it say air forums must use all those nerd terms anyway?
ISN'T airforums is a high class operation.......
so how about a nice name......
like "readers"..........i mean that's what they are doing isn't it?
people who join but don't post have more benefits (like search function) than guests.....so that's a reason to join, even if only planning to read.
and guest is such a lovely name.....so how about guest and readers?
all we have here is our keyed words, pix and these.......
and hey andy why can't we see which threads guests are viewing any more?
cheers

Hi again;
Not to be against Airstream owners that don't post if they contribute to bring something else in the community .I think it's as you're in a club, you have to participate to the life of this club. At least, they can give us some data about their airstream model and where they are from, with the member map, by example.
it 'll be a bit curious to know how many have put their flag on the map...
Andy, is it possible to get an access to see informations about member's map .
tchao.
Bruno.

I (We) (Us) have to sit down (well some of us could stand I suppose) and have a serious discussion (although some of us probably would not participate) about this issue

Right on, 2air. How about "spectators". Like "readers", much less negative than "lurkers". I belong to other more populated forums where it takes a full evening just to weed through posts from the last 24 hours (I know, I should've finished 8th grade )
