I dropped a portion of my bellypan for a frame repair and now want to do the button-up.Here's the problem-the seams are covered with heavy guage alum.straps about 1' wide and then rivetted with large pop-rivits that have a head approx.3/4 'in width and a shaft size like an Olympic.I am lead to believe this is a previous owner upgrade. Is this correct? The system is great and I just want to restore what I took out -problem is I can't find a source of the large fasteners.
Anyone know where??

Olympic rivets are 5/32, at Home depot you can buy 3/16 medium or large aluminum pop rivets which would be 1/32 bigger than olympics. They don't have a 3/4" head, but they are very strong rivets and they "take" real well.

Olympic rivets are a waste of money if you are going to use them on the bellyskin. You can find 3/16' standard rivets at any good fastener supply which are also available with a larger head about the size of a dime, which is good if you have places where the skin has pulled loose from a good rivet.
Look in your yellow pages under fasteners, bolts, screws. You will be surprised to see how many different styles of rivets are available. I am still looking for one that carries the olympic rivets though, most of them don't even know what they are.
