Cool AS 2017 classic

Hi all;

I have a 2017 AS classic. My current issue is the 12vdc system is not functioning. I had this problem about 6 months ago and the converter module was replaced. Also at that time I replaced the Interstate batteries with Duracell maintenance free deep cycle batteries. Checked all circuit breakers and fuses (all OK). Plugged AS to my truck and firefly system functions normally and batteries begin to take a charge. I have a 50amp circuit installed at my home. So shore power good.

I believe there is and a heavier duty converter is available and was installed. How can I tell? I have an extended warranty. Problem is getting it in for repair and we have a South Lake Tahoe snow boarding trip planned next week with grand kids.

Any suggestions?

AndyT

Andy.. is the trailer 12volt system in 'store' mode? What is voltage on the batteries? You realize you are required to have a working 12 volt system so that the breakaway system can have power to operate in event of activation..? It is possible the converter has failed. it is also possible the 120volt circuit breaker for the converter has tripped... and it won't charge the batteries... You will need to do a few checks...

Aren't the trailer brakes and breakaway system independent of the converter?

The breakaway switch is wired directly to the batteries.

sorta. My perspective is a complete system..
- The converter charges batteries.
- Batteries provide power to the Breakaway switch, and, if working properly, battery power (12 volts direct current (VDC)) is available to operate the trailer brakes if the unthinkable should occur.
- the 'Breakaway' switch should be checked REGULARLY that it will engage the trailer brakes properly..

More info needed on the trailer power levels to proceed.
