Artwork Removal

Hi

I am sure somewhere this has been answered but i am yet to find that one.

The one thing I don't like about our excella 1000 (96) is the lovely piece of artwork that came with the trailer. You know the pink and blue thing that sits beside the clock and above the dinette.

Anyone with any info about how this thing is attached and the best way to remove it please help!!!

I will reuse the frame (if possible) with my favorite artist's work.

thanks so much

Betsy and Tom

well i was determined I was going to remove the airstream art. (it was pink and shades of blue and green by the way)
I took a pair of scissors and pried it away from the wall. And was able to tell it was stuck on with double sided foam tape. After getting it away from the wall at that corner I was able to pull it off the wall with no damage to the actual wall. It does still bits of the foam tape on it and I was told go-goo would remove it.
Now it is a small blank wall waiting for personal touches to make it a home on wheels.
Oh and the artwork itself turned out to be worse than i thought it is a single sheet of cardboard with the matt just an area left white. Maybe the frame is useable somehow.

I'm so curious now! What sort of 'artwork' did Airstream choose to permanently affix to your wall at the factory? That seems like such an odd thing to do, instead of letting someone hang something there themselves... Can you show a picture of it?

ok this is a photo that the previous owner sent me to look at before i bought it, I am pretty sure it was something airstream had installed as i have seen it at other airstream dealers.

Airstreams choice of art leaves a lot to be desired. When we ordered our trailer we had Airstream leave out the art, the large clock (were camping who needs it) and several of the cabinet mirrors were replaced with a wood insert. We also left out the large table on the street side wall which folds out in front of the sofa, as it does not make any sense to have a dinnet and this table.

Talking You'll be sorry!

Hey you had better save that! in about 50 years some poor soul that wants to restore his vintage AS to factory is going to be looking for just that very piece of artwork....and they said the orange and yellow 70's carpet was tacky

The clock is ok but rather large for such a small area, but it can stay for a while. I have one in our bathroom that i might exchange it with as (the bathroom one) it has a wood frame.

I will save the picture.... maybe i can sell it on ebay . But I have already hung some of the art I already had, photos of the grandkids it feels more like home everytime i do something to it. It better as I know I will be spending at least six months in it.

Pictures of the grandkids sounds like a much better choice!

I also didn't want a clock in our camper (who needs to watch time when you're camping?), until we went to a rally and realized an alarm clock was the only way we could be up at the crack of dawn for breakfast with those early-riser airstreamers!

Rally Time = if you're "on time", you're late!

I'm getting better...

Shari,

As rally hosts we make sure that the breakfast prep folks are ready to serve a minimum of 15 min. before the published time for the meal. If you are not ready until the published time you will have one upset group. Most of the time our whole unit has eaten and are cleaning up by the published time

That's why I like to eat my breakfast in my MH. I can usually get another 45 minutes to an hour of sleep and still make the next thing on the schedule.

I've learned I can save a few more minutes for sleep if I put my cereal and milk in a disposable cup and use a disposable spoon. No dishes to wash.

That's why I always delegate breakfast duties! And...I eat my breakfast BEFORE going to bed!

We tried that at one rally, but it was a hot evening and so we had just pulled the curtains but left the windows cranked open. We were woke up at some ungodly hour (around 7 I think) by all the folks who had finished breakfast, standing around RIGHT OUTSIDE our windows talking. We laid in bed listening to them for a while and then finally decided sleep was impossible, so we might as well give in and join them. Since then we just set the alarm and join in from the get go.

Not that I'm complaining, I've really enjoyed the rallys we've been to, there's just a little bit of accomodating we have to do to fit in.

I enjoy eating tomorrow's breakfast a day in advance. Everyone thinks I am a slow poke when I am still dipping my toast in my cup of coffee at 10:00 AM, but in reality I am over 20 hrs ahead of schedule!

BTW my dog regurgitated something the other day that is still drying out back in the sun. No, it aint too pretty, but its still a far cry better looking than what Airstream calls artwork.
