Are some classifieds misleading?

http://www.airforums.com/class...p?product=1276

Wow like a Bambi.
Can tow with a skateboard?
10 ply tires? Why?
Restored?
What a load.

It's also currently on eBay, item # 4596804650, so you better hurry up and pay the $30,000.00 asking price before you are outbid!

I love ebay adds

I sometimes read the ebay adds just to get a good laugh. My favorite expression is, "it worked the last time we used it". I saw this add a few days ago and I love this statement: Inside the floor is missing in some small areas just forward of the entry way. You look at the picture and tell me about the "small area" of missing floor.

My favorite line in a description is 'easy fix'. No, it's not! If it was easy YOU would have fixed it!

Misleading Ads

Maybe This One Should Be Listed As A Fix-er-upper. Or Should This One Be Sold To The Guy Who Makes The End Cap Bars? Doesn't Look Good For Anything Else But Exterior Panels Or Scrap Aluminum!

Some guy had an Airstream up on ebay a coupla months ago that really raised my hackles. He said something along the lines of "All the systems probably work, we just haven't plugged it in." I emailed him about how it was such a cute trailer but I wasn't an electrician & certainly didn't want to buy a trailer with serious electrical problems so could he please plug it in & check? He responded that he didn't have the time to "haul it to an RV campground" to check out the systems. And then he said that if I was REALLY concerned about such trivial things as electrical issues I should look elsewhere.

I should've at least offered to send him an extension cord that would reach as far as his garage.

Isn't that the famous "sunken living area", thought that was popular back in te 70's.
Some might pay extra for that feature.

Absolutely! They're just re-arranging the floorplan so it can accomodate the brick fireplace! I put one in my '87 Burro... and other than having to calculate the center of gravity for tongue weight issues, it worked great! You do, of course have to crack a window for proper airflow through the flue... here's a photo of it installed!

His educated guess of 1500 lbs is way off and could be dangerous. I have a '59 Traveler (not a Bambi) that weighs over 2800# ready to roll. Many smaller tow vehicles have limits at the 2000 lb mark.

The outside is shiney but I can't get past the circa 2005 water heater and refrigerator access doors ... hardly consistent with the '50s decor.

I don't begrudge the guy from making a buck off his work. I think that a more honest description and photos to back up the claims would go a long way to getting a sale closer to his high asking price, and more business in the future. Claiming a new sub-floor without any pictures of the process (huge undertaking) is questionable at best.

The same party is also advertising another "restored" airstream that still needs work.

Funky cool airstream

I think you might enjoy this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Airst...98366833QQrdZ1
It sounds like you get to star in a TV show when you buy this funky cool airstream. Oh, the stove, AC, heater, refrigerator? They are funky cool also, but never tested them! Who needs them, you will be the star of your own funky cool airstream TV show!
I wonder if he has some funky cool swamp land to sell also!

Smile Hmm clearly a misuse of the words "funky" and "cool"

After I call the slang police I'm going to reflect on his ebay user name
Guinness...clearly he had a few too many before he wrote that ad.

Funky, Cool, Nasty with a good case of rear end seperation I would be willing to pay his opening bid but no more without knowing how many of the appliances don't work...I still don't know why people won't be up front with whether the stuff works or not...if the thing has been sitting at your place long enough for you to cook up a funky, cool ad for it you have had time to check it out. Otherwise you are a non qualified owner/seller and should be banned from owning an Airstream...FOR LIFE!! MHO
