Rivet Anyone want to start a forum on antiques?

I want to start a couple of other forums. I need to recruit some people to help me out. I was thinking about starting on on travelling and on antiques. Would any of you all like to help set up another forum?

My goodness O.H. you are an ambitious one. Didn't I just read that this one was keeping you from completing your own Airstream trailer repairs?
As an interested user of several "interest related" forums, I wish I had the expertise to assist on most of them. Lord knows they all need plenty of assistance.
Fact is that I don't have the computer/tech background (nor the desire to attain it)(nor the time to spend on it).

As a bandwidth provider and hosting executive you are undoubtedly in contact with many forum operations. What are some of the more successful ones in your estimation? And how do you judge success of a forum? Number of "members" signed up, number of "members" active, amount of revenue garnered from ads, user friendliness of interface ?
Much luck on your undertakings, I only hope that they will not diminish the life of this venture.
One plus in both the areas (travel & antiques) that you are considering is that you should not have to spend any more money on lawyers to craft licensing agreements both subjects being generic.

I am going to figure a way to get my Bambi finished. Anyone want to participate in "Extreme Airstream" a show that will renovate my Airstream in 7 days? Now wouldn't that be nice!!!

As I mentioned, my hobby has kind of turned to online communities. I think a successful community is one that is active with quality members and content. A place designed to allow information to flow freely and in an organized manner.

I have looked at many forums and do not want to build one on a subject I am not interested in. This forum was founded because I was living in a remote region of Colorado and had no resources to restore my Bambi. During my restoration I received a job offer in Dallas and had to move in 3 days. I went back 1 year later to tow her to Dallas. Now I live in a high-rise and there is now where to work on her. So she sits in storage (for now).

The reason I picked traveling is because I love to travel. Not just on road trips (which I love) but all around the world. I want to go to Dharmasala, India next with a stop in Maldives for some snorkeling. So where can I find info on traveling from Dallas to Dharmasala? That's why I want to create a place to capture info like that.

As for antiques, I got the idea from Antique Road Show. Everyone loves discussing antiques and there is so much to discuss. Maybe a better idea would be to break down that huge umbrella and create more forums on what make up antiques. Like AntiqueSofaForums.com or AntiquePorceline.com?

Oh yeah, the more I learn about forums/communities the better this one will get. I plan on developing some very unique features in regards to work flow with searching that will allow people to find old threads on similar subjects before they post on something that has been discussed before. So this venture will not be hurt...

The Airstream is a means for us, not an end. Travelling is the goal &, I (Ed), could be interested in assisting with a forum on that.

I worked for Digital Equip. Corp. (now under the H.P. umbrella) for most of my career in hardware & sales/marketing. Debbie & I are 'retired' -early 50's-, & have recently purchased a 'villa' at N.T.A.C. (North Texas Airstream Community) in Hillsboro to that end!!

Please contact me by p.m. or e-mail if you would like to discuss this further.

Well, I'm an antique in an Airstream, so if your looking for geezers I could find a few.

andy

i would be glad to help out with a antique forum.

my house is full of them! i enjoy collecting railroad antiques, the wife is fond of majolica dinner ware.

and you guys thought airstream stuff was expensive, and hard to find! kathi has some plates that are worth more than a set of four marathons on the excella!
