Cool Anybody heading for Hocking Hills?

Tom and I are taking our Jack Russell "Terrors" to Top O' The Caves this weekend to do some hiking. It's really nice there, and we're looking forward to it. If anybody's in the area, come on by for a campfire Saturday night! :0

We highly recommend this campground. The folks there are very customer oriented and helpful. We'll most likely do a fall trip, but will need to reserve a spot early, since that's the most popular time of year.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone out there is looking for a great place to hike and camp this summer or fall.

Hey Kentucky Girl...thanks for the info! Just checked out their website http://www.topothecaves.com/
Looks like a great place. I think my hubby and I will put this on our "list of places to visit" for a nice weekend getaway soon.

How long does it take you to get their from Florence and which way do you go? We live on the northwest side of Cincinnati.

Thanks!
Debby

It takes us about 3 1/2 hours, if we don't make a wrong turn or miss Rt. 23 like last time. You'd be better off to consult your atlas for the best way to get there. Everyone has their opinioin as to which is the best route, and we really screwed it up last time. So I'd rather not give directions.

Maybe we'll meet there someday in the future!

An addendum re: Top 'O The Caves

We made our little trip to Top 'O The Caves as planned. The weather was amazing, and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed hiking the caves. We had a ball! The park is run by the nicest folks who are very helpful.

However, I didn't notice last time we were there that the sites were really small. We were parked nearby some folks who were in our Jack Russell group, so I guess it didn't seem to be as obvious as it was this time around. We didn't get a full hookup site this time, so perhaps the ones with sewers were a little larger. Anyway, I can tell you that if you go there, be prepared to be cozy with your neighbors! But it's still a wonderful place to visit!

Cherie

P.S. Debby, we paid attention this time to the directions and we've got it nailed down now to the BEST way to go.

Rt 32 East to Rt 23 North to 50 East (right before Chillicothe) to 93 North to 56 West to 664. You'll start to see signs for TOTC's as soon as you make a left turn off 93. It took us almost exactly 3 1/2 hours each way from Florence. Well worth the trip, even for a short weekender!
