I like the idea
It could be organized, printable chapters, with F.A.Q.s.
(You could print it or not.)
Updatable, and with alternative methods and viewponts.
It sounds like a lot of work to even edit out my dribble.
( get Summerkid to proof read!!!)

yes, i will volunteer to proofread (one word---are ya throwin me softballs?)
i normally get 100 bucks an hour (for editing, not just proofreading) but forum folk get the discount rate, which is 100 bucks off.

Great idea lots of options with technology
Great idea Rodney and forum members! All the suggestions are wonderful. Updates and recall info could be offered on a website if that were to be feasible. The cd/book combination would be helpful too. The photo breakdown of major repairs, like off shell work, etc, would be really nice too. I guess figuring out the scope/scale of the work would be important so many good ideas to consider. Best wishes.
Summerkid--does this mean the editing reference book will be the Chicago Manual of Style-lol!!

There are alot of generic RV repair books. I have four or five of them. An additional reference to cover the Airstream specific information would be helpful, including sources for parts. Picking one of the other RV books which is particularly complete and accurate and referenceing it (Joes RV page 100) would make the project managable. To redo the 100's of pages on Atwood heaters, Dometic Fridges, ect would be very time and paper consuming.
I would be pleased to participate.

I think this is an AWESOME idea. We have been chit chatting in the moderator forum about starting some new teams to help write the monthly newsletter, other original content, etc. Bringing together, organizing and producing an e-book would be awesome.
With so many people all we need are good tools for collaboration and divide the work. Let me do some research into collaboration tools and I will post back here.

Ok, last January I bought the name WallyWiki.org. I will setup the software over the weekend and we can start to collaborate there. I was meaning to set this up before but this is the perfect time to get this going.
This will be fun. If anyone is interested in helping please PM Janet or I.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback. Since it appears that Andy and the moderators are making plans on this project I will withdraw from further persuing this project.

Ok, I have setup a forum for members to post any guides or how to's that you put together. I have also increased the maximun size for .pdf considerably so that you can post longer articles. If you still hit a size limit let me know.
http://www.airforums.com/forum...play.php?f=358
If you want me to setup a special forum where you can discuss and organize information for your efforts, let me know and I will set it up.
Also, I think the right format to post these guides is in .pdf format. If you want me to convert a document to .pdf , just send it to me at andy@airstreamforums.com.

I have added a sub-forum for 'works in progress'. In the sub forum we will add a forum each effort that is taking place for members to collaborate on them. I have this type of setup on some other forums I own and it works really well. If you want to collaborate on a specific effort, just send me a PM and I will setup a forum for you to work in.
Also, these sub-forums can be open to the public or we can limit them to just the people that are working on them. That way you can surprise us with your final product if you want...
