Last week I was watching a rerun of the Red Green Show on PBS and saw old Red trying to build an Airstream Trailer on his "Handyman's Corner" segment. He started out standing in front of a great looking A/S trailer and talking about how it was the Cadillac of trailers. Lamenting about how he could not afford such a fine trailer, he said there was no reason why he couldn't build one using the handman's secret weapon: Duct Tape! Red began by"borrowing" an aluminum fishing boat still on it's trailer. After that he assembled a collection of old washer, oven, and dryer doors, and duct taped them around the top perimeter of the boat. Realizing how great that looked, he topped that off with another boat turned up-side-down. After suveying his handy work, Red realized he forgot to install a door. No problem, he just opened a dryer door and crawled in. Once inside, he stuck his head back out and shouted: "Remember, If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy". Wouldn't Red Green would make the perfect addition to this forum? Now where's my silver duct tape?
just saw the movie "Snow Dogs" over the weekend (it was on cable), and there is an early 70's AS in several seens, in the background. not sure exactly the year and model, but it looks just like mine, only bigger....probably an Overlander. I was able to glimpse that it has the same tail lights (round lights, in a rectangular housing) as my 73.
anyway...hadn't seen this movie mentioned before when this subject came up.....
I think it is shorter than an Overlander, possibly a Tradewind. I think the Eskimo guy was living in it. I was looking for it as if it would be a glancing shot but it is in several scenes for a good bit of time each. I couldn't help but wonder how much propane that thing was going thru in a week.
While stuck on a plane to the west coast .... I was forced to watch
a movie called SIMONE "Starring" Pachino ..... I bad movie with really GOOD airstreams featured outside the Hollywood lot buildings ANY one else happen to see these??
Anyone else thought that the movie was bad? (But the A/S's were good)?
