Currently M&T Bank is running a commercial in the Baltimore area that shows a late model Airstream crossing a high bridge over what appears to be a stream.

Not in the movies but in a print publication with a large circulation. Inside back cover of the May issue of Fly Fisherman magazine in an ad for Rio Products has a couple of photos of an early '60s unit, probably a GlobeTrotter. Hard to tell because there are no side shots. Its sitting beside a very fishable-looking river. No big red numbers to identify the owners. Anyone know who it is?

Another "not in movies"-Sunday's (3/6/2005) Kohl's print ad, Chaps for men has a gleaming, riveted silver item in the background. Looks like the image is reversed though as the door is hinged on the right rather than the left.

Sister-in-law clipped an add for a Ralph Lauren designed/decorated 16-19' trailer for only $150,000. I didn't attempt to discern the age of the trailer, but it didn't look new. I think there were several for sale. I'll have to look again, or maybe someone knows.

I did a search for, and could find no mention of:

Legally Blond

Has a short clip of an Airstream - Hairdresser's past significant other lives in it in some industrial wasteland, where Elle and the Hairdresser go to take custody of the Hairdresser's dog.

Interesting that two are sold. Would be interested in welcoming those folks to the forum/WBCCI. I'm almost sure the number I scanned was $150,000. I'll doublecheck. The site has them for $100,000 now.

Talking Two more

There's a Direct TV ad with an AS in the background, older couple standing in front. Later in the ad there is a younger couple with another silver trailer in the back, but more boxy.

Master Card has a new magazine ad with a couple looking out of the "back window" of an older airstream. I'm not sure why a couple would both be looking out the bathroom window, because an "expert" like me can tell that it is a bathroom even though they tried to make it look like a kitchen.

I don't know what they had in mind painting that Airstream dark brown. It reminds me of "Mr. Hanky" of South Park.

And since when did Clive Cussler start writing about desserts? Everything he has ever written has a nautical theme!

There was a color picture and article in the Chicago Tribune last Sunday.

I will try to scan it in here later.

I see someone is a big mystery/adventure lover. Do you collect Clive’s books, or are you just an avid reader? I haven’t ready any of his books, but I did manage to find out that Dirk takes to the desert to find a long-lost old battleship the locals call the ship of death.

The A/S may not be painted. Those may well be decals, like you may see on Metro buses. 3M has a product that is used to cover buildings, trucks, busses, cars, nearly anything.

I agree with the Mr. Hanky part. Not my favorite design.

I had considered it but decided against it, not having copyright permission.

All I will say about Dr. Cussler is that the jackets look great. I picked one up before a flight a couple years ago. It was a little thick on the 'macho' and not very well written.

Imagine my distress a few months ago when I picked up another one while rushing to catch a flight, only to discover once I boarded that it was the same drivel.

You'll be glad to know that I saw a site that proclaimed that the Movie had not done the book justice. I'm sure that will make you run right out to get your theater ticket.

The Chicago Trib articles are meant to be public domain; where you get into trouble is when you charge for articles. This forum is free, as well as public.

So I am TRYING to get the pic on here.. wish me luck...

This pic, if it shows, will make the ChiTrib reading area bigger than it ever was!

Saw a Campbell's soup commercial tonight. Nice full shot of an airstream. Also looked at a GM website today that appeared to have a top down picture of a truck pulling an A/S.
