Bell South has a commercial for 995 that shows two gentlemen playing cards under the awning of a vintage airstream.

Blue Collar TV
Last night I saw a show called "Blue Collar TV" on . . . TV. It stars Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and "Larry the Cable Guy". Anyway, in the opening "credits" there was a picture of Jeff Foxworthy in front of some sort of Airstream. It went by too fast for me to really identify it.

I used to see a few Airstreams being blown up in the movies and on TV. Don't remember the titles. I sold my 76 Sov. that I restored to an actor in CA a few years ago. Hope he didn't blow it up too!

Snow Dogs
I'm watching Snow Dogs on ABC right now. There is an Airstream in this movie. It takes place in fictitious Tolketna, Alaska. Cuba Gooding and Charles Coburn are the stars.

Just saw an A/S take a rough ride down a hill in "A Perfect World." At least it didn't get all torn up and it came to a fairly gentle stop without hitting any trees.

Snow Dogs
I too saw part of Snow Dogs this evening. I think the Airstream is either a '74 or '75 25' Tradewind.

Airstream in Campbell Soup AD
Holy cow! I just saw an AS in a Campbell soup ad - of all things!! Or did somebody already see this one.
The whole commercial went by pretty fast but it looked like the happy Campbell campers were in the desert mountains with their dune buggy parked beside them while eating soup under their AS awning. There was a lot of flashing spoon action but I did see one side shot of about a 25 foot AS.
The strangest sight was what looked like a hanging chain curtain in the doorway - sort of like the bead curtains of the 60s! Is this a new option I haven't heard about yet???

Saw the movie "Swingers" and they party in what looks like a vintage (70s or 80s) Airstream. Also saw a 50s or 60s Airstream in "That Thing You Do".
Maybe it's just me, but it seems that there are lots of cameos lately.

There was a late 60's or early 70s Sovereign (I think) that got a lot of footage in The X-Files. Even had it hooked to an old Chrysler station wagon with the fake wood sides. The inside had been "customized" by the character that was living in it. Same trailer showed up again in another episode involving the same character - Max Fennig.

I saw it too!
But I think it was Charles Coburn's grandson James who played to role of the crusty mountain man, Thunder Jack Johnson.

markdoane,
Correct you are. The one in Snow Dogs is James Coburn. James passed away last year (or in 2003) and I will miss him, as he brought life to a wide variety of roles.

It's interesting that both grandfather Charles, and grandson James, won Oscars for best supporting actor.
My favorite role for Charles was Sir Francis Beekman, in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". Who wouldn't like a role as Marilyn Monroe's rich suitor?

Went to the Rv show today and talked to a salesman I knew there. He told me his lot just got an early 70's 31' Airstream for a trade in that was in real good shape.I went straight to the dealer to see it and they said sorry it's been sold to be blown up in a movie. AARGH!!! There goes a few more hairs.

Yep, a slip of the tongue. I'm watching this very minute a 1941 movie, "The Devil and Miss Jones" where Charles Coburn got his best supporting actor. It is on Turner Classic Movies.

Just was going to dig this post up and add "Crossworlds" Starring Rutger Hauer. http://www.rutgerhauer.org/filmography/cross.php There is what appears to be a 59-60 18ft in it.

Crossing Jordan
Watching Crossing Jordan last night and of all things the bad guy was traveling around the country, with his Airstream, kidnapping and burying alive his victims! Then in the last scene, in order to exscape, he sets the trailer on fire. How could anybody do that? I didn't think bad guys could have an airstream.......

In Tequila Sunrise Mel Gibson & Michelle Pfeiffer share a love scene in an Airstream in this 1988 movie about drug dealers.

Picture of an Airstream in last week's People. It is painted from end to end to promote a movie coming out in April. I believe it was Valiant staring Ewen McGregor.

Airstream in Videos
About a month ago, a local Nashville video company rented our '71 Safari for three hours to use in a video for Cletus T. Judd. It was a parady of Gretchen Wilsons song "Redneck Woman". It is called "Paycheck Woman".
Our trailer was towed about 50 feet by a monster truck with "Kid Rock" graphics on the side. Haven't seen the video yet, but I think it is out.
We recieved $500 for the use of our trailer.
Took the money and headed to Florida for a week.
