Airstream - Wolfman Flick

I saw 8 Legged freaks. Poor movie and a waste of a good Airstream.

It was Mariel Hemingway, and the movie was called "Bad Moon."

It was REALLY FUN to watch on Hallowe'en.. in fact, I purchased a copy for my own wonderful personal library.

I have a HUGE collection of vampire 'B" movies.. had to let a Werewolf in, too :-)

I highly recommend it.. it was better than it sounds ;-)

I thought that was "Maximum Overdrive" with Emilio Estevez. A real waste of time. I've seen it 2 or 3 times...

That was the original, the knockoff was "trucks". The original was bad, but at least it had Stephen King going for it.

Hi All!

Overhere in Germany they are showing a serie call "Promised Land" on TV. Actually they show it for the 120.612 time or so, but it is still great for Airstreamers (or future Airstreamers like me... ).

The whole story is about a familiy living in an Airstream and touring the country. It played from 1996 to 1999. One of the actors was Gerald McRaney as Russell Greene.

"Poor White Trash" Movie w/ Airstream?

Just got back from the video store and in their "used tapes for sale" section they had a movie called "Poor White Trash". Anyway, on the cover of the box was a picture that included a '60's Airstream. The writeup on the box never mentioned Airstream by name, but did mention a trailer full of cash. The story is something like a family turning to crime so that their child can get out of the trailer park and into college. Anyone seen it? I've gotta say I was not overly impressed by what I saw on the package.

EDIT - This movie is $59.98 on Amzon.com! I found a picture of the box on the web to post here:

From Soup to Airstreams

Campbell's Soups has a new commercial with a Vintage Airstream in the background. Quite a few shots of it. Made me want soup and sandwich... out in my trailer.

Joe, the reason the movie is so expensive, it probably was released beforeit was common to sell VHS movies at your local Wal-Mart, or Kmart, with the resulting economies of scale. As more were released that way, the prices came down. I would be willing to bet this one has a release date in the mid 80's or earlier.

Thumbs up Beyond the Sea

Just saw this last night - good flick!

At one point where things aren't going to well for Bobby Darin (such as learning that his sister was actually his mother) he moves out of his house and into what appears to be maybe an early to mid-60's model International Land Yacht parked on the California coastline. Several good shots of it, including a perspective shot of it in the background, while he's in the foreground chatting by a campfire with family friend Charlie (played by Bob Hoskins).

Darin aficionados may not be too impressed, but I thought Spacey did a fantastic job on this film.

EDIT: Upon further consideration that Airstream looked much more like a 70's vintage than a 60's....

Currently reading "A Salty Piece of Land" by Jimmy Buffett...yes the singer. The main character is Tulley Mars from one of his earlier novels about a Wyoming cowboy who lived in an Airstream on a ranch. Not a movie, yet, but it is pretty good fiction.

Yesterday's NCIS had an Airstream. It was toward the end and appeared for no more than a split second. (Since we'd taped the program anyway -- had to deal with guests at the park, so we keep a tape in the machine at all times -- we were able to replay the microsegment several times to make sure of what we'd seen. Alas, with such a brief glance, it was impossible to tell year, model, etc.

We think we saw a completely smashed Airstream, flattened nearly on it's side, on CNN last night as they talked about the weather out West.

Poor White Trash

I just bought a copy of Poor White TRash on DVD for four bucks at Half.com.

I'll probably want my money back

Has anyone seen those vinyl stickers on Ebay that say "White Trash Inside" that look like the "Intel Inside" logo?

If the general public had more sense of humor, I might do it.
Heck, I may do it ANYWAY.

If the Prado dam breaks, we may be seeing pictures of "Inland RV" floating away on CNN tonight.

Watching the Vikings and the Eagles today, there was a Chevy Silverado commercial with a flash of an Airstream. Commercial starts with several black trucks driving through a tunnel, image switches to a truck pulling through a sheet of water, in the background you can make out what looks like an AS. Just before the jump to the next sequence, the front window of an AS appears through the water. Love DVR and 1/15th speed.
