Air Bud - Seventh Inning Fetch (2002)

Got a DVD for the kids last night and it had an Airstream Classic Motor Home in it. It looked long like a 34 foot one.

The movie is - Air Bud - Seventh Inning Fetch (2002)

A family of sports-playing golden retrievers are kidnapped by a mad scientist who came to town in an Airstream motor home.

Cute movie for the kids.

Motorhome Massacre

I saw this DVD in the movie rental store.

http://www.motorhomemassacre.com/

I passed on it even though it showed what looks like an Airstream on the cover.

Smile The Force

[quote=Stougard]Last week I was watching a rerun of the Red Green Show on PBS and saw old Red trying to build an Airstream Trailer on his "Handyman's Corner" segment. He started out standing in front of a great looking A/S trailer and talking about how it was the Cadillac of trailers. Lamenting about how he could not afford such a fine trailer, he said there was no reason why he couldn't build one using the handman's secret weapon: Duct Tape! Red began by"borrowing" an aluminum fishing boat still on it's trailer. After that he assembled a collection of old washer, oven, and dryer doors, and duct taped them around the top perimeter of the boat. Realizing how great that looked, he topped that off with another boat turned up-side-down. After suveying his handy work, Red realized he forgot to install a door. No problem, he just opened a dryer door and crawled in. Once inside, he stuck his head back out and shouted: "Remember, If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy". Wouldn't Red Green would make the perfect addition to this forum? Now where's my silver duct tape?

You can do it! You can do it! You just have to let go!
Duct tape is like The Force: It has a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together!

Anybody watching the hot TV series, Heroes? The cheerleader's actual mom lives in a trailerpark of ho-hum SOBs -- except she lives in a Spartan! It first appeared last Monday night and was in there again tonight. Not many clear shots but enough to tell what it is. They do have the upper accent stripe at the level of the windows painted yellow ... don't know what I think about that.

I think you are right

Good catch Canoe stream, I thought I saw an aluminum something last week. I sure hope it doesn't end up like the AS in Hills Have Eyes.

Rob,

Great find. I was watching TV last night and caught a commercial for this movie and a glimpse of an Airstream out of the corner of my eye.

I said to my son - was that an Airstream!?!? he groaned in reply mainly because he watched 'Building Dreams is Our Business' for at least the twentieth time this past Sat night.

I love Heroes! I tape it every week. I saw that it was some type of Airstream looking trailer last week and then this week confirmed it. The cheerleader was leaning against the outside along a line of rivets. But I don't know enough about the different models to know what it was. I did really like the port hole in the door though!

Well, I'm going to have to out us as "Seinfeld" re-run watchers here.
We just saw the episode where Jerry buys back his parents Cadillac, and the last scene when the credits are running shows them talking in a room, and the camera pans out to show an A/S hooked up to the Cad.(vintage, but couldn't tell which model) in full glory, front window awning extended, and a WBCCI number we couldn't decipher. Did anyone else see this?

Rob- Here is the photo they have up on the web site.

Speaking of Airstreams and Astronauts- The Astronaut Farmer - opening soon!

An astronaut is forced to leave NASA to save his family farm, but he continues to dream of space travel and sets out to build a rocket inside his barn. Though his neighbors consider him an oddity, the media considers him a story, and the government considers him a threat, nothing can deter him from his dream to break through the atmosphere and orbit the earth. You just can't get Airstreams away from Astronauts!

1961 Ambassador in Astronaut Farmer

We went to see Astronaut Farmer--flimed right here in beautiful New Mexico-- last night. A 1961 Ambassador (28 ft) has a major role as "mission control". It's actually 2 1961 Ambassadors, the one that's in the exterior shots and one that they--gasp--cut in half for interiors. The Ambassadors were parked at the old NM state prison (which is used by the movie companies for prop storage etc) and that's where Wild Hogs productions took my Safari after the fire. (You can see the door of the Ambassador that says "mission control" behind my Safari in the picture.)

As it turns out, I recently met the guy who provided the Ambassadors. He is a professional vintage Airstream/Spartan/Boles Aero restorer and he bought the parts from my trailer when I gutted it. We exchanged stories about working with the movie industry. Warner brothers ended up buying the Ambassadors instead of renting them because they wanted to mount antennas on it, and then decided to cut one in half for interiors rather than make a set.

Movie ID

The other day I had a drywall guy come over to look at my house and give me a quote. He brought his wife and kid with him.

The wife sees the Airstream in the driveway and says "I love your trailer! What year is it?" I told her. She looks at her kid and says "Hey Jake, what's that remind you of?" Kid yells back "The Hills Have Eyes!"

Don't blink or you'll miss it

My Airstream in the movie Wild Hogs, that is... Airylle had probably a nanosecond of screen time and it wasn't even a full shot, only the front part. Plus, quite frankly the movie sucked. I don't just say that because I was disappointed that I didn't get to see more of my Safari. It just was a terrible movie. We'd read a review of it before we went and the review was just scathing. Simplistic predictable plot, wooden characters, lame dialogue, cheesy sight gags. It was worse than a made for TV movie. Feel a rant coming on.... When I think about all the money Disney threw at that movie it kind of makes me sick that they couldn't have produced a quality product that was actually enjoyable. Why is it that Hollywood can't break out of the formulaic movies? I love movies and we go almost every week. But it's getting more and more dismal. Try to find a movie that isn't riddled with violence...and isn't cheesy. They just don't make them.

As far as Wild Hogs. It was cool to see New Mexico scenery and recognize all the places where they shot. But, having just watched an Inconvenient Truth on DVD, I couldn't help but think about the waste. They built a biker bar, authentic inside and out, complete with a brick fireplace...just so they could blow it up in a lame, predicatable scene. There's a scene where "the boys", Martin Lawrence, Tim Allen, John Travolta and William Macy stop at a secluded pond to throw off their middle-aged inhibitions by going skinny-dipping only to be, predicatably, interrupted by the family with kids in a mini-van. The movie company built a large pool in the Jemez mountains, filled it with thousands of gallons of precious water(all water in a desert state is precious) they trucked in and then...get this...heated it. Presumably so the "talent" wouldn't suffer any discomfort (or, as George Costanza called it shrikage"). After shooting was over they destroyed the pool and covered over the hole.

Well, end of rant. If you had any ideas about seeing Wild Hogs...don't waste your time or your money. Yes, it's very nice that New Mexicans get jobs when these big movie productions come to the state. And, yes, it was very nice of Disney to sink a whole bunch of money into my trailer--without hassle--because they nearly destroyed it. But still, I wish they'd made a creative, funny movie, not a moronic waste of money, time and talent.

Anyway, here's a picture from the set of the famous fire scene: It shows more of my trailer than you'll actually see in the movie
