Airstreams In Literature / Novels
I looked around and could find no other threads with regards to Airstreams being mentioned in literature, so I thought I would start one.
In the past few weeks I have happened upon two novels that mention Airstreams.
The first is Into The Wild - It is also a motion picture. It is the story of a young man that hobos around the U.S. and eventually ends up living in an old abandoned transit bus in the Alaskan wilds and eventually dies from ingesting mold spores that prevents his body from ingesting nutrients from the food he eats. Pretty good book, the movie was OK, and it netted an Oscar nomination for Hal Holbrook in the "best actor in a supporting role" category. The book mentions a few times that the family would take vacation trips in their Airstream trailer and credits his wanderlust to those trips.
The second book is Peace Like A River. About half way through the book a family inherits an Airstream and they hit the road. This from the back of the book; "Enger brings us eleven-year-old Reuben Land, an asthmatic boy in the Midwest who has reason to believe in miracles. Along with his sister and father, Reuben finds himself on a cross-country search for his outlaw older brother who has been controversially charged with murder. Their journey unfolds like a revelation, and its conclusion shows how family, love, and faith can stand up to the most terrifying of enemies, the most tragic of fates.” It is a pretty good read.
So has anybody else stumbled upon Airstreams in literature / novels? If so chime in with the titles, reviews, and a synopsis
