Airstreams in Commercials

All you Airstream owners. Have you seen lately on TV commercials with an Airsteam in them? How about magazine ads?
Is this the begining of a new trend ? Are Airstreams the latest rage??

Chevy pulls an Airstream (Commercial)

Shampoo commercial has an Airstream in the background.

Our 1971 AS is moving right along. This weekend we finished the floor, we decided to use vinyl tiles. Got new tires also.

Happy Holidays too All !!!!

Yes, we have noticed the "presence" of Airstreams in quite a few commercials.....in one I noticed on TV , think it was for Chevy PU's, I wondered it the Airstream was actually hooked to the PU.

Is it possible that Airstream pays manufacturers/product advertisers for these "cameo" appearances?

I actually don't see much Airstream advertising that seems specifically paid for by the factory.

Campbell's Tomato Soup

I caught two glimpses today of what looks like a 70's era AS in a tomato soup ad on TV.

Mtv

MTV promo of "Pimp my Ride" included what appears to be a single axle, 1950's airstream.
Should anyone find out info on it please post.

Target corporation is having a "Hello Kitty" charity auction for Unicef and Target House. One of the items: a 25' CCD "Hello Kitty" Airstream. Current Bid is $41,000.

Not quite an ad, but close enough to post.

Post did the vinyl too

Just back on forums looking for info on sealing seams etc. and saw this thread. I think it is a new trend, and how can we be surprised? Others are now recognizing something we may have known for a while. Airstreams are cooooool. For myself, i've always been drawn to airplanes, trains and things, so not surprising my being drawn to something with so many rivets and such amazing lines. Well, enough. My husband and I just had armstrong commercial put in our 74 overlander and are extremely pleased. This should be our year to actually use it... looking forward to it. Hope you're as pleased with your flooring.

Having an Airstream is like traveling with a "star"; I get asked questions like--is it new?, people want to see the interior, and mine is newer (2002).

I really think that some of you "afficinados" that have retrieve/rebuilt Airstreams have a lot to do with this fasination in the public's awareness.

Thinking it cost us a lot of $ (53,000) it was cheap for the feelings I/we get.
Was born poor and had to have a Cadillac and an Airstream.

Blue Collar TV, during the intro.... Jeff Foxworthy with image of Airstream behind him (prolly video cooking) I just caught it as it was fading, did not see detail. Forgive me if someone already posted this and I missed it.

DirecTV has one also. Free???? I think not. These are paid for product placements. A better approach than fighting over decals.

Wink

I think there is a MSNBC promo with a soldiers family and an Airstream.

Never catch the gist of it, it goes by real fast. Will prob disappear altogether when MSNBC changes its name.

My greater amazement is that I even take note of such things (but I surely do).
I mean I pass same automobiles and trucks as mine all the time and see them in comercials etc and don't give a flip. Why do I care who else has or uses an Airstream.

Come in Freud.

VW Busted for Toureg ad

Here's a good one: this was posted at acruamdx.org (they really take pleasure when a competitor stumbles...) I have no idea what the specs are for the trailer in the ad, but it's apparent that VW's eating a little crow.

Busted! VW Pulls False Advertising for Touareg
Right on the heels of the "vaunted" SUV of the Year award, VW is exposed for misrepresenting the Touareg's towing capabilities in its television ads.

http://cbsnewyork.com/shamestories/..._303155456.html

Apprently the vehicle still has that tremendous tow capacity, but it can't tow a monster like the Airstream, as depicted in the TV ad.

Tour de France advertiser tonight

Toward the end of an ad for hair product Garnier Fructis I spied what looks to be a bit older Classic. Colonial Airstream comes through again and has a pic from the ad. Tour de France knocks down any other reality programming out there and the scenery is not to be missed! Love those sunflower shots...

Tim; I can't help but wonder how AS hopes to cultivate the "it" image as you say in the face of continued faulty quality control. I bought a 2004 after reading about the many flaws in the '02 and '03 models, only to find the same poor workmanship. Now, we read the same accounts from 2005 owners. I can only assume AS/Thor has more into promotion than quality. It irks me to hear you say the owners community are truly embassadors of the brand, then to continuously read on this forum of (at least) new owners experience and apparent indifference by the company.
