Lightbulb Airstreamer "Meetups"

Meetup.com (the website that helped Howard Dean become famous) is now arranging "meetups" for Airstreamers.

See the website here at airstreamtrailers.meetup.com

These are not rallies. They are private meetings of like-minded folks, usually 4-12 people at a time according to the website. I suppose they would talk about their varying cases of "aluminitis" ...

So far only 35 people are signed up nationwide, so the possibility of a successful "meetup" is pretty remote. But if hundreds or thousands of people signed up, it could work. The meetups are scheduled for the fourth Saturday of every month.

Would you go to one?

No, I don't think so...

Q. What's a meetup?
A. It's a local gathering of a group of people brought together by a common interest. Real world, face-to-face, maybe over coffee or a beer.
In my opinion, that's what the WBCCI meetings/rallies are for.

I think the major differences are (a) that you don't bring your Airstream to a meetup; (b) it's free; (c) anyone can go, including the 90% of Airstream owners who aren't WBCCI members.

I would enjoy a get together with others interested in Airstreams. Sounds like an interesting idea to me.

I'm not saying it's not a good idea, just saying it's not for me...we get that from our local unit.

I am in

Yep, I will Meet up the first Sturday of every month except July and August at a differerent CG somewhere in SC.

That is old news, we have been meeting up for awhile now.

Even presidential candidates are human enough that they are little slow at figuring out that ASers meet up first Saturday of every month.

The SCCU is inviting ANY Airstreamer to meet up with us the first Saturday of every month. Guess what, we will even invite a non Airstreamer to meet up with us and have agreat time over a cup of coffee or whatever your pleasure.

Where do you keep getting this stats Rluhr?, I gotta get a hold of that reference and keep you on the level

(notice I am not going to debate your statement but I would like to know where you get those stats).

Come one come all and meet up wth us

It's simple: the factory says 75,000 units are still on the road. Last WBCCI annual report implied about 8,000 member units. Please correct me if wrong.

Ken,

Our Unit Rally is normally the second weekend, and sometimes the dates are adjusted to encompass a local event so folks have an event to attend that they may enjoy. I have not done the research, but I don't think every unit meets on the first weekend. If they did the campgrounds would get awfully hard to get into in FL where we have 10 units

Secret

It is no secret that our unit is a little different

To be honest, I dont know why our rallies are typically the first weekend of the month.
But it makes it easy for me to remember.

You know, I may be wrong, it might not be first weekend but for some reason I have trained myself to thinking it is.
Maybe I should check schedule................................

Oops, September Rally is scheduled for Birthday and it is second week in September

Other than that always first weekend.

Never the less, we are "meeting up" in Myrtle Beach next month, March 5-7th. Come and "meet up" with us

And I know I will see you Brett and Edie at R3 in May.

We have cancelled our May unit rally for that event.
But it will be worth it I am certain.

Meet-ups

So . . . . .
Alan's unit meets on the 3rd Sat. in April
Smily's unit meets on the 1st Saturday.
Brett's unit meets on the 2nd Saturday.

Are all these WBCCI local meetings?

I thought the meet-ups were to be non-affiliated?

And what is the number of paid annual memberships in WBBCI?

Just curious before I decide to vote.

Already Happenin'

It seems reading several threads here in Airstream Forums that several members have already had informal meetups. I've done so myself with MarkDoane and Ultradog. I owe pyanke a visit when the snow melts.

I've met some forum members, informally, over the last 18month.
A meetup with more people would be interesting for me.
