Airstream that jacknifed on icy Road in Yellowstone?

Last year I remember seeing a post from a member who jacknifed on a slipperly road in Yellowstone and the trailer wound up spun 180 degrees if I recall...there was a photo or two. Trying to find that post but can't. Anybody recall who that was so I can try to dig it up. Have tried all sorts of search strings both on the forum and on google, to no avail.

I do not recall that being on airforums in the last year and a half, and searches have not revealed it. Maybe on another RV forum or news source?

Also, on rare occasions threads have been removed, with no trace left behind.

Good luck!

It's been longer than a year ago, if it's the one I'm thinking of. Spun the trailer around, and rolled the tow vehicle.

That sounds right. it was probably a year ago that I saw the post...but it might have been an even older post than that as well.

I believe she was a fire spotter pilot and traveled alone with cats. Her airforum name may have had something to do with cats. That was several years ago.

I'm amazed how little snow was on the road for this to happen. Just a dust of snow, on a curvy mountain road. Be safe out there everyone

My neighbor across the street spun his SOB last year and it totaled the side of his Ford TV before rolling and totaling the 25 foot trailer,,,he was a professional truck driver by trade and thought he was good enough to drive those icy roads,
Luckily no one was hurt,,,,he warrants his good driving skills to no one being hurt

A dusting of snow can be worse than packed snow and when the pavement is warm enough to melt the initial snow or freezing rain and then freezes up it's called black ice. Rain can do the same thing in the gulf states where they get a brief afternoon shower - a little rain is worse than a lot of rain because it lifts the road oil and dust up just enough to cause it to behave almost like ice. I lived in Houston for several years and remember those brief afternoon showers in the summer and how they could turn the road into a slip & slide. agree with TJ - when it is like that in the winter - anywhere - leave the trailer home

A guy on Facebook Airstream Addicts posted photos of his white knuckle adventure driving down a steep mountain pass in a snowstorm and was rather glib about it. I wanted to post this link as an an example of what can go wrong, in a case that appeared to be way less risky. He then commented 'I guess it wasn't a good idea to take photos while driving, either?' Funny guy. It'll catch up with him one day. Hopefully nobody will be hurt when it does.
