Put up some clear and recent pictures of your trailer if you have any. We will all keep looking!

Hi, if you mean a lock on the coupler latch, that is not enough. When I just want to pull my trailer forward to work on it, I remove my coupler lock. I don't remove my latch lock because I use my 2" ball hitch and it slips right inside of a locked 2 5/16" coupler. That might be what the thieves did. They don't need to break or cut the latch lock and make any noise.

Major Bummer. Hope it was insured for theft. Your not reporting from inside your unit are you? Sometimes when it gets to hot by the beach we go out to the driveway and sleep in ours for the air conditioning.

Have a question? Of the two photos you have posted, the earlier shot shows this person driving through the intersection passing the cross street without your trailer and in the second shot a little over an hour later from the approaching direction through the same intersection is a bit odd. Looks like an older commercial area. due to what I see is concrete curbs with overhead power lines. Nice street light on the corner by the way to aid the security camera. Is this Dayton Road or somewhere else in Newark? If this isn't Dayton Road it maybe a good location to continue reviewing security tapes for this vehicle coming back into this location later.

Does the trailer have a license plate on it? State and plate number would be helpful.

Jack,
You might use this to check Craigslist nationwide:

I've found it useful in my searches for tools.
Here's to you getting it back and the creeps getting busted!!

Hoping to slow someone down on ours, we added a "boot" figuring that it in combination with a good hitch lock, and a quality pad lock on the pin would make someone more interested in an easier target...

A campground owner locally caught people stealing from his storage area, they just hooked the CHAINS up and pulled away, no ball, no lights or brakes - NUTHIN! I'd assume they'd get a few blocks away, then figure out how to get the lock(s) off the hitch, then hitch up properly. Makes me think I should get heavy duty latches and make the chains removeable. Of course a canny thief probably comes with spares!.

Your post made me look at the photos more closely too. There's no Airstream in the first picture (the one on the right hand side). The driver of the truck is just passing through. In the second picture.... There's the Airstream.... Is the driver backing it up to turn it around? Clearly by the lights and surrounding cars the shot is the same. Where was the Airstream stored in relation to these shots?

I will Keep an eye out jack
I cannot imagine him traveling very far with that combination of TV and trailer weight. The back roads are not for the light hearted and going east it gets worse. Good luck

Very upsetting, we'll keep our eyes peeled when out and about. You really have me rethinking my security, thank you for posting. Currently I'm just using a master lock on the hitch in the closed position, I know it is not secure at all. I was thinking about going with the reese ball lock but now I'm reconsidering.
How long does it take to put on and off one of those tire locks?

With that TV I dont think its very far away.Keep lookin in your area.I hope Im not correct but they probably stole it to strip the aluminum. Check the local Scrap yards. I have a friend thats a repo man and he says a heavy chain thru the wheels is very effective.
I sincerely hope they catch this guy. How come my friend in Newark say's there was nothing in the local paper about this thieft.?
GOOD LUCK
Roger

Russ, took me about 2 minutes the first time to put that tire lock on, am sure I'll do better the second time. Pop off the hubcap, unlock it, uses a spinner wrench to tighten the claw around, the rim, then crank down the lug nut cover, then lock the cover and you're out of there. It fits really snug, doubles asa great forward wheel chock, and has two spikes that blow the tire if someone really things they are going to pull forward to force it off.
Hope they find that creep for you and get your trailer back.

Might want to check the local 7-11 type convenience store as it looks like he might have one of the giant "Big Gulp" type drinks. Maybe the store got a better pic on their surveillance.

Jack, I hope yoy get it back, at least the photos give you something to start with. If your location is less populated that tow vehicle may be identifiable. I had to leave my trailer at an unoccupied home for a couple of weeks when I purchased it from a tag sale. I suspected some of the other bidders were scrappers so I jacked it up and took one wheel with me until trailer was ready to move. I will probably continue to do this at home and elsewhere.

Here's a shot of an old GMC Jimmy that I stole from Google Images. I'm pretty sure that's what's in your picture.

Hmmmm, that sounds like a cheap and effective way to secure your trailer. This thread really has me rethinking security. I've got a Gorilla Guard hitch lock, but as pointed out here, a 2" ball makes it totally ineffective.
