Airstream starting their own forum?
I just noticed on the Airstream website that a new forum will be coming soon. I wonder what effect that will have on this site, good, bad or indifferent?

My guess is 'indifferent'.
I wish it success but most folks like some separation. Having an independant site is better for stimulating discussion. Besides, there are already several Airstream forums/lists available. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
I think there will be some benefit in that the 'official Airstream position' on some things will be clear. Right now many things are communicated second and third hand.

I want a hat...I think I have the perfect picture, just have to find the time to set it up.
As for A/S starting their own forum, I like this one and the folks here are very nice.
While I was looking around the posted link, I found another error and forwarded it to Airstream. I have found aobut 3 so far.
The largest was the trailer page where they listed the International as the Safari and the Safari as the International. Took them about an hour to get it fixed......but I digress.....

Well, it obviously won't be as good as this one! I would imagine they will dwell on brand new A/S more than the vintage units.

I agree with Pick, Airstream would like to sell new AS's and their fourm will probably lean in that direction.
Something to be said for the super folks on this forum who are quick to respond and have lots of helpfull information. Most of the work I had to do in restoring would have been less expensive and easer had I had known the forum existed.
Thanks to everyone and keep the questions coming as I learn more everyday.

My only hope is that Airstream isn't setting up to pull a Daimler Chrysler.
Daimler Chrysler ( and subsidiraries such as Dodge, Jeep etc) is aggressivly targetting anybody that is using their name. www.jeep.net use to be a domain of a online buddy and it was a pro Jeep enthusists page and D/C went after him for copy right infringments. I am aware of a bunch of instances of that.
Their setting up their own forums....... hopefully just trying to propagate the pride that the owners have and help answer service issues.

Garry, I second that emotion.
Without the very friendly and helpful advice I got from these forums, I would probably still be looking at that '60 Overlander and scratching my head.
But I'm still jealous of ALANSD's hat, even though I haven't seen it.

ALANSD,
I seen your picture on the Airstream site as picture of the month! It looks good! I submitted a picture of ours that shows our camper set up in a park also.
I couldn't see that they were giving away anything for winning the contest though...perhaps they will give away the motor home I seen on TV which had a stair-case that went to the roof. It was un-real! Oh well probably not but I can dream on anyway!
As far as the hat I already have two of them but I'll take another I guess
I'm glad to see they're starting a forum also. I don't think it will take away that much from this one.
