Hello to the Airstream headed into Acadia NP this afternoon. We saw you wave. Just leaving after several great days. Stayed at the Sea Wall campground, nice and clean.
Safe travels

Just returned home from a 3400 mile trip to Colorado.
Met fellow air member (forgot name- sorry) from San Antonio at Black Canyon NP. They were on their maiden voyage with their 08 16' International. 6/10/14
While having lunch at the top of Monarch Pass, air member Lois lane stopped by. We exchanged trailer tours. 6/11/14
AS towed by a blue truck at the campground entrance to Wind Cave NP.Tuesday
At the intersection of I 25 and 18 at Chug Water Wyoming passed a small pack of three heading south. This was on Wednesday
Wednesday near the Glendo reservoir I was passed by a red truck pulling AS #6062 they waved.
Yesterday on I 90 near Sioux Falls we passed a wolf pack of six or seven AS heading west, flashed lights-no response
Average gas mileage for the trip was 17.4

I think the movie was made in the early 80's and the truck 'n' trailer are from the 70's. When I told my wife about the movie she asked if I cried- it is sad...

Saw a nice older airstream heading through Floyd, VA on Friday. Had a wbcci number, but I failed to remember it.

Thanks, Derek

Never been to Fort DeSoto, but do know that the Rangers there will enforce the rules about loud sound systems. Fort DeSoto is more known for having one of the Top Ten Beaches in the World, more so than the Fort. Want to say the Fort is from late 1800's, so anything that Mother Nature has dealt it is why it's looking pretty sad. This is a County Park as well, so basically the local taxpayers and users are who are doing up keep.

As far as access and traffic, remember, this whole Park is basically and Island 'jutting' out into the Gulf of Mexico. You're in one of the top three most populated areas of the State of Florida, therefore the traffic. If you say you want more space to do activites, then maybe this wasn't the perfect spot to do it in.

There are strict rules on how many guests can be at sites at any one given time as well. Rangers can only be so many places, I would've gone for a walk and found one if neighbors got to be a nuisance.

No. I didn't catch the beginning or end. It was "over the air" so I couldn't press "info" on the remote to get the scoop.

We're at Potato Creek State Park, South Bend, IN. There was one other AS in the park when we got here. A younger couple who were here to primarily ride the mountain bike trails. My question is, when you all see another AS in a park, do you make a point of stopping and saying hello and introducing yourself? Am I assuming too much that other AS owners are as interested in their AS and meeting other owners as I am?

Great question. We haven't, but after our last NEU rally, I might. We had an awesome night of trailer tours and got to see all the cool things folks had done with their trailers from the 50s through a 2014. Too fun! I think I might start doing this now at other campsites!

I do try to meet the other owners- if they are outside. I don 't go up and knock on the door. They are usually very happy to "talk shop" and give you a tour. Sometimes the other Airstream owners will initiate the introduction.

That is how I do it also. There are so few of us compared to SOBs that Airstreams of any vintage tend to stand out and it is good to meet other owners. I have made instant friends and I have been given the cold shoulder. Making one new friend is worth it.

Two of our best friends we met this way. We had just ordered the new AS and bought a new truck to go with. We were taking the truck out for it's maiden voyage when I told my partner to go through the local state park and lets take a look at it. And there it was. An airstream sitting there with a truck in front with no one in sight. I told my partner to stop and lets just look at it from inside the truck. All of a sudden the owner comes out (probably wondering who these stalkers were), introduced himself, told us to get out and lets talk shop, invited us in to meet his wife and was short of inviting us to dinner. Later they told us they wish they had. Long story short, they've become best friends, we've camped with them three times since getting our AS, have met them at RV show in Chicago and have gone out to dinner with them, and plan to do much in future. Moral of the story? It does pay to take a risk.

I go up and talk to SOB owners, as well. Some of best campin' buddies have SOB's or a tent. We go to rallies where we are the only silver trailer. RV'ers are good people in general, regardless of brand.

I always make a point to try and link up with other Airstream owners. I'm only 38, but appear closer to 30. So, most of them get a kick out of someone from "the younger generation" being a diehard AS fanatic and having the years of experience with them that I do.

Airstream meetings

Good question, in the past 5 years we have never been approached at our campsite by anyone - other Airstream owners included.

However, 90% of the time while at the RV dump my husband is approached and asked the usual questions.

We would welcome anyone and would love to talk shop but the occasion never arrises.
