This was taken at the Dayton Hamvention. We saw a couple other Airstream, but this was all I got on camera!

day 3 of my trip from Alabama to Maine. 4 pm local time. I-81 in north-western VA somewhere around the 280-290 milemarker area. i saw that tell-tale flash of silver for the first time in my trip. while i was trying to figure out if it was actually an Airstream, or just a nice shiny oil tanker, they flashed their lights at me. i flashed back. it was a big beautiful shiny vintage something. i think it was a sovereign. was followed within a minute by a newer something small.. bambi possibly... that had a cool fish design painted on it. i flashed at them too, but i think they missed me.

Recognized that rig immediately! Alumatube and I met them in the North Little Rock KOA (in Susan and Brad's 310) when they passed through Arkansas. It is as beautiful inside as out.

Hi Liz and Chris! Have fun in Bozeman.

Hey Everyone!

It's kind of cool to see pics of our rig taken by other members! Hey Neighbor!
SO, This morning, as I read this post, I figured I'd return the favor

There were 4 hot air balloons up in the air, so I tried to snap them in the pics too.... what better match than Airstreams and Hot Air Balloons??

That's what's strange, we were towing and there were no other vehicles in sight besides us. Wife took the picture as she was taking mountain pictures through the windshield on the way down Monarch and saw the west bound AS before I did. There were several Twinkies we met during our 5200 mile trip that gave no indication they noticed us when we flashed at them. Most of them were in their own world looking straight ahead. That's weird to me as I always check out any RV going the other direction. I guess I do it mostly just to be thankful everytime an SOB or MH passes that we're pulling an AS!

We always flash (the headlights, mind you) on-coming Airstreams...if we see them in time...and most of the time they respond (if it's not an interstate situation) with with a wave or the's fun to make that connection fellow Airsteamers! Makes us smile and glad we tow an AS.

Amongst the air-cooled VW set, not waving is just bad form. The same used to hold true for motorcyclists, but it's hit or miss these days.

Airstreams at Roaring River State Park

We just got back from 4 days at Roaring River State Park, and there were 2 Airstreams there, one was a vintage Excella with Texas plates at campground 1, but the owners were nowhere about when we walked by it. The second was a 1972 29-ft International owned by a nice retired couple from Joplin, Mo (same as us, but we didn't know them previously) who were the hosts of campground 1, Frank and Ruth Root. A Casita was making itself at home in campground 3, cute little thing. Kind of looks like a baby Argosy.

Late '80s Limited 31 or 34 footer(Couldn't see the axles for the center divider) with the woodgrain center stripe being towed by an older Suburban heading down I-20 West through Columbia, SC at about 1:30 today.

Northbound I-190 at the Peace Bridge, Buffalo N.Y. approx. 1:30pm.
Probably headed to Niagara Falls. Older un-polished Excella? Dark colored P/U.

Yesterday afternoon, we saw a 70's Airstream in the 25-foot range, being pulled by a white box van in downtown Glencoe, Illinois. Lookin good!

Over the weekend we stayed as guest at Thousand Trails in Orlando, FL and there was an older Avion and a mid-length blue stripe Excella. We never as the owners of either so we didn't go by.

This may have been mentioned in a post I missed.

There is a 10 m (32 ft.) Avion with a for sale sign on it on Hwy 51 just past the I 94 exit. I drove around it and it looked okay from a very casual perspective. I go past it once or twice a week, I first noticed it this spring, but I have no real idea of how long it has been parked there before I noticed it. I thought it was an older model of Airstream (from the highway).
