I had to travel to Tucson and back today at work. I did not see any Airstreams on the way down from Phoenix, but it's pretty dark at 5am when I started. On the return trip I saw 2 headed toward Tucson. The first was a mid 70's Argosy which was painted a dark brown on the bottom and it had a bike or bikes mounted on the rear bumper. Right after that I spotted a newer model Airstream that was around 17' long. Both were seen on I-10 near Eloy at around 2pm.

Minuet 7.3 Sighting

I really did a double-take this morning while heading for Springfield, Illinois when I observed a very nice 1979 Argosy Minuet 7.3 Metre with Spring Green trim heading East toward Mt. Vernon, Illinois shortly after 10 a.m. The Argosy was traveling East on Interstate 64 -- I was so surprised to see a Minuet 7.3 Metre that I didn't even notice the tow vehicle!

I know it's not an AS, but it is pretty cool. It's all aluminum and I see it nearly every day. It never moves. Looks to be in pretty good shape.

What brand is it, Drums? I can see a name on the front but can't read it.

Next time I go by I'll take a closer look. I really like the tail lights on it they are pretty cool. The body looks like it is made with corogated AL siding...

It's a Streamline. I think that size was called Prince (19'). It's an old one mid to late 50s.

Interesting mystery there!

Wouldn't the wrap have the effect of accelerating rust and mold? No air circulation would promote that, I would have though...?

edit: LOL!! got me good!

Cousteau

I watched a cousteau show about the migration of the gray whales last night on PBS. The whalewatchers (that sit on the cliffs and observe the movements and count the whales and note their condition) in the Big Sur area use a airstream for their basecamp. Anybody else see this? It looked like a mid 60s dual axle.
