3streams,

What are you having Colin and GSM do to Stella?

Be careful, these parts have tons of road salt which can/will play havoc with aluminum. Sometimes when driving down the highway you can taste the salt from the dust it makes in the air. I live just a few miles north of Plattsburgh and can attest to fact that they use way too much on the roads up here. It is killing the pine trees that line the roads!

Stella is getting a grey tank, new plumbing, wiring checked, frame checked, new floors, air conditioner removed and sky light placed in, bathroom sprayed, and other updates. She is otherwise getting- overhauled. She needs to be ready for a 3 week road trip to international this summer. When she comes back from Colin we will finish out her interior and start polishing Here are some of the last before pictures of her- she will be "like new" when we are done!

Wow, quite an undertaking. I bet the finished product will be real special! How long will Colin have your Airstream to do the work you have requested?

Saw a Bambi heading north on I-75 inside I-285 in Atlanta around 1:30 or maybe 2 pm today. No markings visible from the other side of the median wall.

Talking The granddaddy of all Airstream sightings!

Well here are some pictures from Colin's @ GSM vehicles in Plattsburgh, NY. It took us about 11 hours to get there, we went over our trailers, had a look around the lot , got to see Matthew Mcconaughey's trailer- vintage lighting, and then headed back home! For a grand total of over 1200 miles! Here are some of the pictures from his lot- I will let you all identify them. The polished one that is inside is Matt's and the really small one is a project Colin is creating that will be the world's smallest Airstream and can be towed by a Honda Civic. Stella will be there for a few months- new axel, grey tank, frame/ tongue check, new subfloor, and bathroom sprayed- then we will pick her up in time for our friends to use her for a road trip to Intl. in June/ July. We are keeping our fingers crossed that she will be done in time- probably won't we polished, but hopefully comfortable inside. We might tow up ou '61 when we pick up Stella and have that ones frame checked and axel replaced- we'll see

How will the size of Colin's viewpod differ from the one Carlos is fabricating?

When Disney first put in Fort Wilderness Campground they had 11 Airstreams that guest could rent- the one in Dinosaur Land in Animal Kingdom might be one of those original Airstreams. At work tomorrow I will check my Disney Textbook and let you know what year that opened- to determine which year any original AS might be.

P.S. Shameless Plug for myself- I am a travel agent and own my own Travel Agency- Mountain Top Travel, I am also a graduate of the College of Disney and a Disney specialist- if you ever need tickets or reservations- I can help.

Coolest airstream ever...

We just returned from a vacation in Florida (sorry fellow enthusiasts, but we flew) where we were able to watch the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis last Thursday at Kennedy Space Center.

They allowed a few bus tours early on the day of the launch and as we were returning to the visitor complex on our bus, we were stopped in the middle of the road because the astronauts were approaching in their vehicle. There were guard vehicles ahead and behind the astronauts and helicopters above. And guess what they were riding in???

We went camping at High Falls State Park in GA. We arrived after dark on Friday night but did see an older AS camping there. It left by the time we got up in the morning.

We drove through Indian Springs State Park, GA Sunday afternoon and saw an Excella (32/34')? in the campground there. There was an AS (international?) parked across from the state park. Somewhere before we got to the interstate there was another AS parked next to someone's house.

On the drive home we saw a newer AS on the overpass just south of I-285 as we were heading N toward Atlanta. An AS MoHo was going North on I-75, just north of to top end perimeter of Atlanta I-285, this afternoon as we were heading south. We didn't get a good look at it so see if it was a 345 or not but could have been.

Atlanta Airstream Traffic Report

Since we seem to be talking about Atlanta sightings, I just saw a beautiful sight driving through the Perimter/Chamblee area. Right off of Johnson Ferry near the interesection with Ashford Dunwoody there is an Airstream Classic Motor Home sitting in the back yard of a house. It looks like it is in great shape. I will have to hunt down more details when it is not pouring rain outside.

Airstream sighting near Downs, IL

Saw what may have been an Excella with #2106 heading east on Interstate 74 near Exit 140 and Downs, IL. It was heading towards Champaign/Urbana. Tow vehicle was a Chevy. This was about 1:00 p.m. on 2/20/2008. Today was a cold blustery day with highs in the mid teens.
