Oak Mountain State Park, Alabama

While checking out Oak Mountain State Park, we spied an airstream parked at a campsite. The sweetest looking furbaby was anxiously peeking out the window waiting for family to come home. Going off memory on the numbers (#12169?)... my memory ain't so good...so please don't quote me on those numbers.

Just wanted to say hi!

Rivet In Maumelle Park in Little Rock

I went for a bicycle ride at Two Rivers Park in Little Rock today, a beautiful series of bike paths on the peninsula where the smaller Maumelle River runs into the Arkansas River. While loading my bike, a van pulled up with a weight-distributing hitch on the back. Not Airstreamers, but full timers nonetheless. They were staying in the Corps of Engineers Campground at nearby Maumelle Park. (Corps of Engineers Camping - US Army Corps of Engineers Campgrounds) They said that the campground was full of high-end motorhomes and that there was only 1 Airstream there.

So naturally I checked them out. Found them outside playing dominoes by their late model 28’ Airstream. A nice couple from Texas who had never heard of the forums. I pulled out my iPhone and showed them my photos on the forum over a beer and told them about us. I expect a couple of new members when they get home. Wish I had a better camera than my iPhone, but here they are. The WBCCI numbers are active.

When I mentioned that my ’83 Excella had extensive hail damage, his immediate question was, “Was it in Bozeman?” They got to Bozeman just after the hail.

The campground at Maumelle Park is excellent. Lots of large sites and several pull-throughs. Very clean and well maintained with an abundance of public facilities.

Saw a 30' on PA route 30 west. It was being pulled by a big blue van. They had Wally numbers, but I couln't make them out. We were both blinking lights and waving. We were headed home on PA 30 east. We were just west of the Susquehanna river when we passed them.

Sequim, WA = at least half a dozen Airstreams of various vintages in yards and storage compounds. Also two could be seen reflecting in the water from across the bay at the John Wayne Marina.

A 2005 31' unit parked at the campground across from the marina. A wonderful Michigan couple full timing between the Pacific Northwest in summer and points south in cooler months. Donna enjoyed taking their older golden retriever for a walk one morning for them.

Fort Worden/Port Townsend, WA = again half a dozen in yards including one that looks partially gutted in a yard just across from Fort Worden entrance. There was a larger sized (90's 31'????) camped at Fort Worden at the ocean side campsite with WBCCI #'s on it. White Ford TV. Nice looking outfit.

Saw a couple traveling on the highway too and from in the Anacortes to Keystone Ferry area, both appeared too quickly around corners and then gone again to get more detail, just a flash of aluminum as I'm sure they felt with us. If you are attached to any of the above thanks for making our trip fun. We love seeing other Airstreams, particularly when they are being used or redone.

Almost forgot, there was also an Airstream right on the point at Fort Casey, WA on Sept 8th. They had an excellent view of the Keystone to Port Townsend ferry making its rounds.

We saw this one off behind its owner's house, and sorry, but I didn't stop, shot over my shoulder.

Is there enough to ID the model...? It's not an Argosy, is it?

This one looked to be in immaculate shape, and it's an old one too, judging by the 13 panels. The owner has a fantastic view from his back yard, over a lovely valley with a river at the bottom.

And of course, what would we tell him about his axle, if he were a member here...?

Aage,

Is that last one an Airstream or an Avion? It looks a little square to be an Airstream. Of course, I am not the vintage Guru around here. Terry, Shari, Fred?

It is an argosy. I can tell that much. The placement of the windows and ornaments looks a lot like our 76 - 24 footer.

The Argosy name is not there......front windows don't look quite right, not wrap around, but the rest of it looks like an Argosy....... or some kind of painted Airstream? strange.

We must be looking at two different trailers. Early, or maybe all, Argosies had non-tinted wrap around front windows. It is hard to tell in those photos because of the lighting, but they look like they wrap around and blend into the sides to me. Definitely an Argosy if you ask me.

It is a pre-1974 Argosy based on the paint scheme and the tail lights. OEM for all Argosy trailers included non-tinted deep-wrap wing windows -- but today, only the solar gray tinted deep-wrap wing windows are available as replacements from Airstream.

Northbound on Route 16 in NH

I passed a late model A/S about 3:45 this afternoon, near exit 16 in Rochester,N.H. I'd guess about 23', pulled by a black pickup. I winked - but it was raining and the traffic was heavy and fast so they were gone before I could take in any more details. Nice looking trailer!

Brannan Island State Park, CA

I saw 3 AS at Brannan Island State park east of San Francisco on Saturday the 20th. One was a small Bambi that was staying in another local, the other 2 were midsized (I couldn't tell for sure as there was a berm and I could just see the tops. They were in the hookup area and I had been dry camping.
