Saw a Basecamp in a commercial for spotting scopes on the Outdoor Channel. It was being towed by a 2 ton truck with a service body.

Found this one pretty close to home.

This little beauty is a 1963 Globetrotter- that was hiding only 10 miles from our home! We spoke to her owner (who is using her for a fishing cabin ) and he might be willing to let her go . So we are going to keep a close eye on her.

I would say the prominent drip caps and exterior straps holding on the door-within-a-door would make that more like a 1962. But I'm not sure on that.

'62 or '63

I did a rubbing of the vin on the side of the trailer and that's where I got the '63 from- maybe it was an early '63. The owner brought a old Suburban from a guy and was told "you have to take that trailer if your going to buy the truck." So the current owner didn't even buy the airstream - it was an extra when he purchased the truck!

You NEED to rescue that trailer Andy

There's nothing worse than seeing an unwanted child.

We drive past her about every other day and check in on the weekends waiting for her owner to come visit- only time will tell.

You are correct, I went back and more closely inspected the vin and it is a 1962' Globetrotter from the Ohio factory. Keeping a close eye on her!

Our accountant is helping settle an estate that this is part of, and not knowing anyone else with an airstream contacted us to see what to do with it. Well we went to check it out to see what it was... The trailer was apprasied at about $2000. We were thinking of buying it and towing it over to that '62 Globetrotter and trading him for his trailer. What do you think- fair trade?

Don'tcha Just Luv Seeing Other Airstreams!?

We did a long weekend at Patagonia Lake State Park in SoAZ between Patagonia and Nogales, AZ...very big with birders, and usually very busy...we went down on Thursday found several available sies (which were all taken by Friday AM) and stayed through Monday noon...meeting up with AS friend and his Bambi... We were amazed to not only find his Bambi in the park when we arrived, but 4 more Airstreams (one a van model) plus an Avion... Bonus!

Pics below:
1. Our Bambi (with red truck) next to our friend's Bambi (same year as ours but a CCD with white truck) form N. Carolina (working on him to join the Forums)...notice the Excella down the hill between us...
2. The Excella down below us...from Ohio...didn't meet these folks as they left early the day after we arrived...
3. Another Bambi at the end of the loop...also the same year/model as ours...they are a couple from Maine on an epic tour of the SW and Mexico...nice folks...been out since late Dec...Also pointing them to the Forums...
4. An Avion (Aluminum cousin) at the far end of the loop...didn't meet these folks...
5. A Classic in our loop...a couple from Sacramento, also on a leisurely tour of AZ and the SW...heading back in March...
6. Airstream Van...avid birders from Alaska...Juneau, I think...Notice the Classic (photo #5) in the background down the hill...

Everybody, including the SOB folks wondered if we were having a rally or something...none of us had every found so many Airstreams in one place "accidentally"... We enjoyed the AS phenomenon...as always...

we will be heading north- will you spot us?

We are heading up 81 across PA into NJ and NY. Taking "Stella" to visit Colin at GSM Vehicles in Plattsburgh, NY. I will upload photos when we get back of his shop- he has over 30 airstreams on his lot! Now there are some sightings! I will hopefully get some photos of Matthew Mcconaughey's trailer- vintage lighting. We are to going to be in Airstream heaven this weekend!
