On the drive from Parker to Phoenix yesterday I went through Quartzite. It is starting to fill up even though the weather is still quite warm. I saw one Airstream in the desert a little North of town and on the South side of I-10. I only got a brief look and could not tell anything more about it.

I'm writing from my parents' house in San Antonio tonight. I was traveling south (trailerless) from OK City & Dallas-Fort Worth this morning. While making a fuel stop in Hillsboro I spied a Nissan Titan pulling a new 20' Safari SE. He came from the direction of the Hillsboro Airstream Community and got on the interstate ahead of me.

I overtook him in construction to the south and he was concentrating on the traffic -- I don't think he saw me waving. I recognized him as Al - K4GLU who I met at the Moraine View rally last June. I was in my truck and stayed in front of him showing off the AIR Forums sticker for a while. I'll PM & ask if he saw me. He'll have nothing good to say if he tried to get past Austin on I-35 (I did the back roads thru the hill country). But small world anyway...

yeah, just the thought scares the beejabbers out of me as well. Oh well, l guess if I were just cruising and discovered it for ya, and you know, took over parent-hood-ship for a while, she'd never know would she?

You could just PM me the address and heck, she's too busy to build more curtains and cushions and stuff anyways, and you are still hard at it with your two, and your 'Burb so why cause more pain and suffering?

Okay, it was worth the try. You two (three?) would look good with that rig behind the '65, although for authenticity sake you really need something older (no, no, not older than Mel, older than the '65).

Airstream Audible

I live near the end on a very narrow dead-end street in my town, and people turn around at the every end, to get back out.

Just now I"m at my sink doing dishes, with my front door open, and a guy drives by. Does the turnaround at the end and goes by again. Stops. Backs up.

Through his open passenger window I hear a nice, clear "Woooow."

I've been sighted!

I love my thread :-)

Scary stuff

This months outing was a Natchez trip with two nights camping just across the river in Lousiana. We arrived at dark Friday and didn't have a chance to scan the campers for a possible Aluminum sighting. Saturday morning we saw the early departure of a new model 25' - 27' towed behind a light brown Honda Mini Van...Huh?
Yup!

Great weekend, a fuzzy photo that might be Madelyn at Kings Tavern and the annual Graveyard tour.

Boo!

Airstream Smoke Stack

Just back from Sudbury Ontario where 'Smoke Stacks' are a common sight. The surrounding area looks like the moon actually! All the vegetation was killed off years ago by the stacks from the Nickel mines...

Anyways here is an Airstream which blends in nicely with some of the smaller stacks...

Here is another one which has an interesting 'pullout'... (a bit hard to see from this angle)...

Oddity in Ca.

Friday I was on the 15 going South and saw a 20ft Argosy pulling an A/S trailer. The odd part was that the back of the A/S trailer had a flat panel that really made it look like a toy hauler. Who knows about this?

Tucson Time Capsule, 17 Nov 77

A firend of ours in Minneapolis emailed this pcture to us this morning with the following caption:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Tucson Time Capsule: Airstreams converge on fairgrounds

"OK, I know we parked right next to a white pickup." Even with the map they were provided, more than one Airstream enthusiast may have gotten lost on Nov. 17, 1977, at the Pima County Fairgrounds. But, they probably met new friends while they searched for their home among the 800 trailers that gathered for the three-day rally. The camaraderie at "Wagons West" was high as caravaners from 38 states, Canada and Mexico converged for the event sponsored by Airstream. Activities for participants included cribbage tournaments, seminars on space-saving ways to pack dishes and the all-important pet parade.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That's a couple of years before we moved to Tucson...and way before our Airstream days. That's a lot of aluminum! Was anybody on the Forum at this rally??

Wow

That is an amazing picture! If I'm ever at a rally like that I'm going to put either a GPS tracker on my unit or a car alarm so that I can find it with the remote!

What a great picture. I was thinking when I saw it "I wonder if our trailer was there?" I'll never know having zero history on it beyond the fact it was built in 1951 and it moved to Canada sometime after that.

I love looking at these types of pictures. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Saturday at 3:45p transition ramp from the 5 South to the 210 East. Looked like a blue Chevy towing a 25er.

P.S. Barry your trailer is in the third row from the left.
