Better late than never

I'm finally getting around to posting photos of just a few of the Airstreams we saw on our journey to Grand Teton National Park in September.

This first photo is tough to see, but it's taken from inside our vehicle, at night.

This could be yours!

Saw this one in Idaho, just the other side of the Teton Pass. It was for sale, if anyone is interested. Going rate was somewhere around $100K

Cuties in Jackson, Wyoming

I would eventually like to live in Jackson Wyoming. And when I do, I want to live on this street!

I was westbound on I-90 just east of Cleveland last Saturday (12/15) and I saw what looked to be a 22 or 23 foot Safari - Eastbound. I cursed them because they were on the road with their AS and I wasn't, then wished them a good journey. I HOPE they got out of the area as we had a BLIZZARD the next day!

Newport, OR

Saw this one parked on a used car lot in Newport, Oregon when we were up there for the beverly Beach Rally. It looked to be in reasonable shape on the outside, but I didn't see the inside. I don't know what they were asking either.

We were heading east on I-10 leaving Tucson Friday, 14 Dec...saw an AS coach (couldn't tell the details)...going west on I-10 entering the Tucson area... I think the driver waved at us! We saw several Airstreams in yards and lots on this trip to Safford, AZ area...but no others on the road. Always lookin' tho.

When on the return trip from Jackson Center to TN. 12/18, I spotted a 25-28' widebody pulled behind a gold colored Chevy/Ford on I-65 South around the 105-90 mile marker south of Louisville, KY. We played tag until they got off the Bowling Green exit.

Traveling home tonight on a very heavily traveled main road in Columbus. I go down this road at least 50 time a year. This time I was stuck in traffic, behind one of the few remaining single family houses in the area, I spied one of these. It was heavily oxidized but at a glance - looked to be in pretty good shape. I'm going to have to stop some time just to see if they will show it to me. You just never know where a classic Airstream will be hiding.

Saw an AS heading south on I-75 around 3PM just south of Corbin, KY. It had red numbers (not close enough to read them) and blue "wave" decal on the side.

I spied this one just north of LA on the PCH this week on my way to Oxnard. Nice setup. I stopped to see if there was anyone around but they must of been on the beach. Can't say I would blame them, it was a great day. With this rig I guess all you need is the tow ball without any sway control.

Passed two vintage AS going down the Turner Turnpike (Interstate 44) in Oklahoma, yesterday in a horrible sleet storm. didn't envy them. It was hard enough getting my Tundra from Oklahoma City, to Chandler.

U know strange as it sounds I saw one(AS) on the National Geographic Channel over the weekend. Ceasar Millan THE DOG WISHPERER has an Airstream that looks to be in the 60's tandem axle about 27ft, converted to a Vertiual Reality Theater for Dogs. It has a treadmill and is wired for sound and lites to resemble thunder and lighting storms. Kinda neat. Waste of a good vintage Airstream but to each his own.

If an Airstream is being used in the aid of our canine friends, I have no objection to it.

Spot me if you can.

Here's a twist on the thread.

On 12-27 we'll be leaving Northern L.A. County and heading to Slab City. Then to Tucson and back home on the 1st.

We'll be in a Silver F250 with a 25 FB in tow.

Can you spot us?

North 395

December 26th -- We passed a newer Bambi (?) headed North on California 395, just outside Olancha. We were headed South into the wind storm (and closed highway) and shuddered at the thought of coming through that with silver in tow!
