Saw a shiny beauty, maybe 1950's with louvered windows?, parked in the north Lake Tahoe area (near a home for sale at $12 million). I wonder if they'll throw in the Airstream?!!

Had no idea that's the proper term for those windows. Wife had them on her '72 VW camper van. Who knew?!! Nice to learn something new everyday! Thanks!

Both are correct from several Google references. Jalousie seems to be derived from the Italian word gelosias, meaning jealousy.

I don't know how good they are on an AS, seems like they'd let in a lot of air even when closed.

Now you all have me curious and looking up the origins of "jalousie"!

The article I read said that blinds have been around for a long time, jalousie windows are just a modification of venetian blinds.

Basically, it says that the word ‘jalousie’ started from the Italian ‘gelosias’ — a trellis with wood or iron panels to protect one’s privacy. The word ‘gelosias’ means ‘jealousy’ — as in using the shades to jealously guard the privacy of a home. The similar French translation ‘celosias’ also has a subtle meaning ‘sun-blind’ related to the concept of jealousy...

Wikipedia says, “A patent for a louvered window was applied for in the US in 1900 and patented Nov. 26, 1901. Patent # 687705 by Joseph W. Walker, of Malden, Massachusetts.”
Merriam-Webster says the first known use of this term (for windows, we guess) was 1766.

Yesterday, while walking in East Glacier, we saw this AS drive past and pull over up the road a bit. So we walked over to say hello. Very friendly people, Liz and Robin, from Southern California. We chatted a bit and they were on their way!Click image for larger version

Was so nice to meet you! We had fun at St Mary's - and wandered into Waterton. Beautiful. We are leaving a day early as the smoky skies were a little much for us. Happy trails!

Heading on 95 North in Maine this morning saw an Airstream Legend motor home - fiberglass and orange/cream colors. Didn't get the camera out in time for a pic...
