got a better picture of the one close to my house... which i then seem to have LOST *sigh* i'll try again later

and secondly, there's a '77 excella at a feed store on Palafox. its for sale... for more than it looks like its worth... but i snapped a pic.

and thirdly, there's a wrecked AS in an auto auction lot very close to the location of the excella. i couldn't tell what make it was, and didn't get a pic of it... but it looks like a tree fell on it.

A few of us went out to breakfast last weekend while not really rallying in Malibu, CA. The area, known as Paradise Cove has this pretty little trailer permanently parked at the entrance to their parking lot.

ok... FINALLY got a good photo on the AS close to my house! and info to boot!

its a '74 31ft Sovereign, rear full bed, side bath, front gaucho layout. according to the owner, the floor is solid, all appliances work, and cabinets are all in good shape. only problem he mentioned is ONE window has a leak, and he was planning on fixing it soon. it was kept under a garage or carport, so the clearcoat is still in great condition. it just needs a good washing, and possibly some touch-up silver paint on the tongue. from what i could see, it looks like its still sitting high enough on its wheels that the axles are probly still ok.

he's thinking thinking of selling it and he's thinking around the $12K range, but someone else told him it was worth up to $15K. if anyone is possibly interested, since i've already talked to him, i can go back over and give it a more thorough check. i can also provide the number of the car dealership its sitting at. (its not being sold THRU the dealership... one of the salesmen owns it, and parked it there to park it somewhere out of his own driveway)

This thread makes me happy

Thanks Ed; It's been fun to watch this thread grow and how many others have joined in just for the fun of sightings, and maybe I contributed to someone buying that perfect trailer. Or one gets rescued. This thread is the feather in my forums cap!

Yesterday, near Newport, VA, very close to the WVA line, I spotted a Vintage Airstream that looked to be around 25ft in length. It appeared to be in good shape and with the awning still attached. With a little polishing it could be a gem. The old red WBCCI number was missing; however, the previous number, etched into the finish, was 4044 if memory serves me correctly. I'll take the camera and obtain pictures next trip out there and maybe even snoop around and try visiting with the owner should I be able to scare him or her up.
HAPPY TRAILS

We were headed back from shopping in North Little Rock (as we always do) and just happened to glance up the hill on the north side of I-40 about 1/2 mile from turning left onto I-30 to head down south for home, and surprise, there was an Airstream trailer tucked away behind a house! I only got a glimpse and no pic, sorry! We also passed an Argosy painted white with a skinny stripe (blue? black?) in the middle as it was driving north on I-530 about 10 miles south of Little Rock.

It was a good day to be 'streamin', except for the high wind!

Today my neighbor gave me the July 2005 issue of Reader's Digest he picked up at a garage sale. I didn't know that Reader's Digest has changed it's format and had large print easy to read. Beautiful photos of Airstream Rigs.

On page 152 to 155 there are color photos with an article: Dream Machine cool trailers are hotter than ever. Some key lines from the article: Why Airstream now? The workmanship, for one thing. They're little cottages says Douglas Keiser, an authority on travel trailers. Little, but with huge appeal. A photo: Ready to roll. The owners of 1964 Globe Trotter ,Arlen and Shirley Manning of Napa, California. Another photo of 1961 19ft photo.Globe Trotter.

The opposite full page color Eric and Patty Dobbs of Snohomish,Washington, the owners of a 1957 Caravanner. They replaced the floor, rejuvenated the countertops and added a new sofa and cabinet-all to make their own personal statement. Real Cool Article.

I left a note. I would drive down and haul it back tomorrow if they would call me. Don't know if anyone checks on it "ever" or if they just use it in the summer. It seems to be in great shape except for cosmetics. Doesn't seem to have axel problems from what I can see. I really want it.
