At first, we questioned whether it was a "real" Airstream, but then we read the emblems by the door. It's the real thing, at least on the outside. On the inside, it's all about selling donuts. There's a long window on the other side, clearly cut out as a counter from which to sell them.

We were followed by an older (estimating late 60's) Bambi being pulled by an SUV today on the last part of our travels home from Grand Island New York. The unit was behind us on Route 15 from Williamsport to Gettysburg PA.

We went to factory, way to many to count in all stages of life. Very interesting tour, sure are a lot if oarts that go into an Airstream. I would love to kniw where the 800 employees live, pretty sparse out there, but beautiful and best if all busy.

Grew up in Bellefontaine,Ohio 18 miles from Jackson Center. In 1958 when I got my drivers license, that was my first solo trip, drove over to the factory on a Sunday, just to look at the Airstreams lined up for delivery. Now 58 years later we are on our third Airstream and STILL gives me a thrill to stop at the factory.

I haven't seen their Airstream, but I have eaten their donuts. Top notch!

To the folks who had their late model Bambi, parked perfectly in one space, in an overfilled Mt. Rainier parking lot at Paradise, my wife says "Winning!" You all had your little home with you by the hiking trails, while our '27 was all the way at the bottom.

ID:	269115 this fella was coming back from Upper Blue lakes headed back toward lower blue lakes off Hwy88 south Lake Tahoe .. It's a PGE campground. It's a truly awful road, rutted , rocky and in one place too steep for a low airstream. He must have been highly stressed out. Every AS owners worst nightmare.

Saw this one on Appleby Line in Burlington today. Sorry the photo isn't better, we had to turn before I could catch up.

I'm not familiar with all the AS models however, yesterday, August 17th, I met a large, tandem axle, trailer pulled (or this case I should say "pushing") a pickup truck on the Wyoming downward side of the "Beartooth Highway" heading towards "Cooke City" Montana. I am guessing it was at or above the 9000 foot level. This is a very winding, steep and narrow road so I was busy myself....just driving my vehicle...making sure it stayed on the road. I would think by the time they got to the bottom their brakes would "fry eggs". They obviously made it ok as I didn't see any sign of "bits and pieces" lying in the road at the bottom when I returned to Cooke City.

If one knows to downshift, and how to brake, downhill travel is not a brake frying ordeal.....

The Bear tooth is not a perfect world, but it is a fantastic experience. We did the drive bobtail so no claim to any special accomplishment, just a wonderful memory that is recommended to all. We did see several SOBs and an Interstate that made the climb up and safely rolled down, so it's doable. In our opinion, no trailers were injured in their trip that day, but we didn't check out their brakes.

Travel safe and see all the fun stuff. Pat
