Bitterly disappointed

On a round trip to Santa Barbara this weekend, I saw nothing but SOB after SOB. Tedious and awful. I mean really, this is Airstream Corridor West! Where are they to break up this scenic Hwy 101 vineyard tedium?!
Then, voila! Two in a row, heading south near Paso Robles around 11AM. Gorgeous, shiny and proud. I couldn't stop smiling. I'm too much of a rube to identify the rigs, but one was about 20' and shiny and one was about 30' and shiny with a lovely blue stripe. Any one out there?

AHA! I think I may have actually spotted a forum member on the road! Was that you we saw on South Carolina highway 11 just about to get onto I-85 Monday afternoon? Susan was telling me to speed up and take a close look at the Airstream, but, alas, we had to stop and get gas before we could catch up to ya.

Heading "Off Cape (Cod)" Sunday 8/2 saw a newer small (22'?) being towed by a newer VW van! We were heading opposite direction...Anybody from here?

Right after that spotted a 19' Bambi for sale in someones yard. Stopped to chat with the a nice young lady who explained her situation...not happy about it but she must sell.
Contact me if anyone is interested, I have her contact info.

Saw a very nice 28' Safari with slide-out at the KOA in Lake Placid over the weekend, as well as another (Safari?) parked on the side of Rt. 86 near the North Pole campground near Wilmington NY - we were driving around a corner and just caught a quick glimpse of it.

Sept 9, 2007 HWY 75 Bartlesville, OK seen a Bambi going North bound, the front window was plywood. Not sure if it was covering the window or a rockguard.

Also a 1979 was on the side of the road FOR SALE. We couldn't stop because there was no pull off. My sister's husband went by and got the phone number and price. Which I left at home. But they are wanting $7,500.00, my bother-in-law said it looked real nice and the photos of the inside looked nice. There is a awning on the front. If someone wants the phone number let me know.

Airstream sightings

This weekend at Cannon Beach, OR. meet a couple with a Safari FB.
Told them about the forum, but didn't get too visit long as I was leaving w/trailer hooked up and was blocking the driveway.
I saw a few parked along the way but couldn't stop. One was painted silver and looked like the owner was working on it. It was on 101.

Airstreams in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

I saw a bonanza of Airstreams Saturday on Michigan's Upper Peninsula. As we were crossing the Mackinac Bridge we saw one coming from the UP. We then saw another on Highway 2 just west of the bridge. We then stopped at Suzy's Pastie Shoppe just a mile or so west of the bridge and saw this Airstream.

We proceeded on to Grand Marais, MI on Lake Superior just east of the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. We camped at the municipal Woodland Hills Campground in town. There were two more Airstreams there. Walking around town we saw this Base Camp.

Last Saturday around oneish on I 5 going Southbound were two Bambi's about five min apart. A sixties unit and a new one both looked to be 16 footers.

This morning I spotted a triple axle heading east into Jackson MS on I-20. In the spring I see more headed west and in the fall they all seem to reverse the route, the opposite of my expectations.

We saw a triple axle last weekend on Hwy 76 in the Wylie, Texas (north-east of Dallas) area. We were eating at the new Mexican restaurant just out of town and I saw it go by through the front windows of the restaurant.

BTW, that Mexican restaurant was quite nice! I think they are called Miguelas. They have a camel, a goat, three deer, a black and a white swan, and ducks and geese in a big enclosure next to the restaurant. It was neat watching them while we ate.

Sept 9, 2007 Bartlesville, Oklahoma seen a 1979 A/S for sale looked real nice $7,500.00. When we were looking at it a Bambi was going North on HIWY 75 toward Kansas. Had a piece of plywood for the front window or maybe that was their rock guard??????? If anyone is interested in the 1979 I have the phone number.

Thumbs up 2 vintage Airstreams

Yesterday I saw 2 Vintage Airstreams (20 to 23') heading on I-85 south about an hour outside of Atlanta. They were both on a flat bed truck trailer. Strange they even looked graceful perched up on a plain steel trailer.

Anyway looked like both trailers were in very nice shape.

I saw several driving the highway from Kenai to Fairbanks last month. I had one next to me all the way through Anchorage until they got stuck behind a van that wouldn't start. That was pretty cool. Most Airstreamers were waving when they passed. Thay was pretty cool. Welcome to Alaska if you were driving through.

I think the British Columbia Unit had a Caravan to Alaska and the Yukon this summer, so perhaps it was them that you saw!

I hope no one saw us. We ran into rain on our first day out. I'm also not one to do much washing on the road, unless I am shamed into it.

I handle shame at cocktail hour. Shame passes by.

Saturday - what looked to be a 30' seventies being pulled by a blue van heading south through the US customs at Peace Arch crossing (Blaine, WA). Tried to get a picture but the folks in the van beside us kept pacing to get pictures of our Airstream/car combo. Oh well.

At Ferndale caught a glimpse of a Bambi on the overpass for I5 heading east on Saturday morning as well.

Near Anacortes, WA saw two rigs in a storage yard - one looked close to new, the other mid sixties.

We did not see any actually camping.
