Airstream sightings

This is from a funky show called “Eureka” filmed in Canada. I get tickled when I see Airstreams on TV or in movies. They’re always there to set the tone… in this case, a brilliant science geek who may have been abducted by aliens!

I just now learned about flashing “Hello”! Just. Now. We’ve flashed Corvettes. We’ve flashed motorcycles… So, maybe those forks were ignorant, too.

Airstreamers out west seem to be pretty aggressive with either waving our headlight flashing. I always try to initiate it or at least respond! It's a relatively small community and it's always great to acknowledge a fellow enthusiast!

I agree. We just returned from RMNP and I posted a picture and said I flashed my lights but received no response in return. I love that Airstreamers acknowledge each other. Some folks advised me that I should just wave because flashing of lights meant that police were ahead. Of course, we were too far away to wave.

Zooming in on the name over the window I can see that it's a Travelux. They were made in Canada. There is information on them in this thread. Travelux –Gilbert Waite Collection

We started our road trip to AlumaLina on Saturday 10-16-21...we spotted several other Air Streamers along the way. We rolled into Marion on Sunday about 3p for a week of fun! Many AirStreams already in the rally park when we pulled.

On Sat our first sighting was n PA on Rt 78E mm72 @330pm we saw a light colored Truck with a couple Kayaks pulling a full-size AS Trailer with a bike rack on the back. We traded big waves across the median.

We stopped at Staunton, VA for a meal and some rest at the Cracker Barrel. Coming down the off ramp we spotted another AS Trailer heading to the same place. Turns out we had a "3Fer" (new word for three at once). Pulling out back of the lot there was another AS Trailer already on site.

On Sunday 10/17 we spotted 3 other AS Trailers on Rt40 in North Carolina all heading east. @2pm mm130 White Ford PU with black kayaks and a full-size trailer. @220pm mm102 pickup with a canoe and Bambi in tow and just a short time later a Black truck with a midsize AS trailer.

Folks who advised that are probably jealous SOB owners! Airstreamers been flashing their lights at each other since Wally started them down the road. It's part of the culture!

Caught a sighting of an AS stopped at a light ahead of me. Caught a picture of it as it was turning. I was too far back to catch a good look, but I think it had FL plates, which makes sense as this was Montgomery, Al.

I saw this one on US 21 in Elkin, NC yesterday as we were headed to SC. I recognized the truck and trailer as one belonging to someone I don't know, but live close to and have chatted with before. I got a light flash from him. The truck's a silver F150 with a rack. The trailer is a polished older model. It's a sharp rig.

Spotted a Flying Cloud, perhaps 28 feet, on US 69 headed north in Lindale, Texas. Towed by blue Dodge Ram, Texas vanity plate T-Code 4.

From ND to MT ... don't conclude that the AS are from that location.
Those that miss our flashing headlights are mostly out of staters !!!

Please keep on flashing ... even to Corvettes ...

Saw an Airstream fifth wheel (yep honest) southbound on I-81 in Hallstead, PA, just south of the NYS boundary. Sure would like to find one of those.

Jerry's right - remember, too - there are new Airstreams moved from Jackson Center and mid-west locations to the big Airstream dealers in Pacific Northwest.

Many that are westbound are being pulled by large, HD-pickup commercial transporters - and those are on the I-90 and I-94 corridors.

That’s the park. Buccaneer you know it well. The beach camping is closed they are rebuilding that area and adding more beach sites. They will all be much much larger. Concrete pads for the rv another for a patio area and another to park the tv. The day use up the road is gonna be converted into a small campground as well it too will be all beach camping but under the pled live oak trees. It will be nice once they finish the upgrades. 3rd party has leased the primitive area and put up canvas miner’s tents for nightly rental. I think they are about 8 of them.

Full-timing from Tennessee, pulled into Flag City RV Park in Lodi, California to visit local relatives, and the next day, the park was full of Bay Area Airstream Club, freshly back from the Airstream rally in Lebanon, Tennessee. Small world.
