My Daughter in law spotted an Airstream headed west on I-40 near mile marker 350 in Tennessee on Friday. She took a picture with her cellphone but I havent figured out how to get it yet.

Dave,

To heck with the really big plunger, I think a large roll of paper would be in order here. One has to wonder what this guy's wife thinks.

Thanks for sharing that picture

Two weeks ago my husband and I were out in the yard working on the Airstream. The neighbors across the road had people coming in to her house to pick up their girl scout cookies and one couple came over and asked to see our trailer. They had been looking a very long time for one they said. So last week my husband on his way home from work saw one just being set out for sale. So I call my neighbor and got the number of the kids looking to buy one and called her with the info. I got a voice mail from her today that they had run down there and bought it. She was so excited! It made us feel good to help someone find the Airstream they had been dreaming about.

Wow!

Debbie, That was great of you to help those folks find their addiction! Now you must get them to join the forums and post before and after pictures of all they do to it! Ed

I had given them the info about the forum the day they came to look at ours. I am hoping that now that they found one they will be more inclined to post! I would love to see some pics also!

Debbie and Lewis

Great work finding a new home for an Airstream and helping out those other folks. It's always nice to get more people in your area into the hobby. Now the trick will be to see who can outshine and outcamp the other .

The best part is, the reason they were looking for an Airstream is because he plays in a bluegrass band and they camp at alot of the festivals. I am going to have to get their schedule!!
Just warms my heart to see someone get something they wanted so badly. They are maybe mid to late twenties, and you should have seen her, she was soooo excited!

Deserving owners!

That should earn you a lifetime of good karma. They sound extremely cool, especially for their age, when so few people seem to know how important it is to do what you love. They sound like they are deserving Airstream owners! It really sounds like the right trailer made it's way to them! Make them post!

spotted a Excella 500 going down Fairfield Dr. at about 4:30 this afternoon. honked and gave a thumbs up (i was on my scooter) but they kinda gave me a funny look. i have no idea if they waved back, because by that time i was past them, and i have a full-face helmet, so i couldn't see them anymore.
looked nice and shiny!

Went to target today... to buy a rug for the airstream... and saw a new(ish) Safari in the parking lot with a chevy TV and yellow oregon plates!

We circled it a few times. EQ hitch... no forum sticker...

Went to Dead Horse State Park (can't get enough of that place) in Cottonwood, AZ yesterday to do some fishing and hanging out with my flyfishing club. Spotted this in the group site and got a tour from the owner. It's a 89 squaresrtream in terrific condition.

I also spotted this in another campground in the park. I don't think it came from Airstream, maybe it's a "WBCCI Edition" . It looks to be a Corvair pickup with a very unique camper.

Recent Sightings at Jackson Center

Danielle and I were in Jackson Center a week or so ago for some service. We took the tour and loved it. We also saw these unusual items in the parking lot. OOPS! almost got in trouble with the security guard - we were staying at the terra port that evening so we were just walking around and did not realize we were off limits. Snapped these pictures before going back to our campsite.

I'm told this is the only class C Airstream ever built from the frame up. There's only 1 in existence. The tour guide said it sold for over $120k so the project was just not feasible for production. Airstream chose to sell the unit rather than keep it for their collection.

The travel trailer without a rear window is purported to be a custom built unit for Toyota. Notice the arrangement of six narrow windows in the front.

Speaking briefly to the man and woman loading basecamps, they told us they deliver over 30 units per month. Can't confirm is the numbers are correct - just going by memory.

I read about the only Class C Airstream in Trailer Life a year of more ago. It seems to me that the price isn't that far out of line. Too bad. The photos in the article show it to be a beautiful coach inside. But I guess Airstream was pondering getting out of the motor home business even that far back.

Coming back from Florida yesterday I saw a ton of 5th wheels and thought it is too bad that Airstream doesn't make an aluminum monocoque 5th wheel. I could envision one that could be quite nice...not the monstrosity I have seen in the photo gallery, though. But with some finessing it could be quite nice and if built tall enough could have serviceable slide-outs. But, I don't see Airstream going after that market segment...but it could be a market segment to tap into considering the retiring baby boomers and popularity of 5th wheels among retirees...are you listening Jackson Center?

I think Jackson Center heard the money which is why there are no more Moho's or Class C's and I doubt we'll see a Silver Twinky 5th wheel.

I was also amazed at how many Provost and other ultra high end motor homes I saw heading south yesterday on I-75. Lots of $500k plus motor homes heading to Florida for early Spring Breaks. I guess it's hard for Airstream to compete when they are just another pretty face in the under $400K market. Now if they had moved forward with the new Classic motor home, they would have had a truly unique product in the market this time and there would have been a lot of people that would have bought just because it was different. But since the mid-late '90's, Airstream's motor homes have been comparable to other brands and haven't had that cashe that people would have wanted in the big ticket market. I guess if they made it unique enough and in the upper price market, it would have sold just because it was different and expensive. Think Rolls Royce, they are no more dependable than a Chevrolet and cost 10 times as much, but people want them because they carry the mystique of being rare, visually different than what everyone else has, and cost a lot of $$$'s.

CCD heading to Silicon Valley

Saw a 25-27' CCD pulled by Dodge Durango rolling northbound past outlet malls and Camping World in Gilroy Friday mid day.. Maybe coming home from service in Los Banos, or maybe heading north on CA 101 to get early start at Casini Ranch... Passing by in sedan with no AIR sticker or numbers, all I could do was look and admire...

I saw what looked like a mid 70's Safari in Tucson this afternoon. It was near the corner of Sandario Road and Mile Wide Road.
