We spent an unexpected weekend in Chicago this past weekend. As per usual we opted to dry camp at the marshalling yard at McCormick convention center. We had several streamers stop to say hello. The fellow at the security shack told me that someone tried to pay him$20 just to take a peek at our trailer! I can't say enough good things about setting down here.... It's literally 100 yards from Lake Michigan, 2 minutes from several museums, round the clock security, and only $21 a night. I miss Chicago but having this place to crash is a super awesome way to easily spend time right downtown.... The next closest campground is more than 60 miles away! Didn't meet any rock stars this visit but met Robert Plant at al. And Gloria estephan last year. Apparently this is a hotspot for other Streamers.

Atlanta to Houston and Back

I recently traveled thousands of times to and from Atlanta and Houston and I saw maybe two Airstreams on the road and one in the Houston campground I stayed at. However, I always see Airstreams in New Orleans either at French Quarter RV or Ponchartrain Landing.
New Orleans and Fort Wilderness in Disney World and likely Key West are locations where you always see Airstream Trailers. But basically I see very few Airstreams on the road or in campgrounds. I sometimes wonder just where are they?

Spotted a older Excella being pulled by a really nice new blue Ford pickup near Lorain, Ohio Or I-90/SR 2 westbound.

Male driver was alone. I wish I was behind him with my trailer. 31 hours till I depart!

Coming back from Oregon on Tuesday I saw an Argosy southbound on I-5 just south of Portland. I was dumping the tanks at the rest stop on I-5 just south of Olympia when an Airstream pulled in the rest stop but just kind of kept on going. I thought he was parking but when I turned around he was gone.

On Monday the 21st on our way home from Greenwood SC, I passed an newer AS about a 28 footer with Florida plates he waved as we passed I had the cruise on 62 mph, then about 10 minutes later another AS just like it passed me being pulled by a white F250, he had to be doing 65 at least cause he was by me and gone.

I tend to see 4-5 A/S per week, or more. Running 3k+ miles per week will do that.

Saw the unusual so am posting. A tandem axle Argosy pulled by a red pickup southbound on US-59 north of Houston on Wednesday, and then northbound on Thursday.

What I see most often is a nose-down A/S under tow. TV is irrelevant. Disappointing. Room for improvement on 8 of 10 seen.

With our self leveling air suspension on the truck, Curt 15049 receiver mount modification, 16" Michelin tires and 16" SenDel wheels and ProPride hitch, our Classic was about ¼" low in the front when empty. We have loaded our "gear" after the major solar and battery modification and the trailer suspension did not sag, so we are still in the same ¼" low front orientation.
