Oh, we'll bury the sorrows with the spring break ski crowd. The spring break season from points east begins tomorrow and ends in two weeks. We'll be buried in work -- the best way I know to wipe out one's capacity to ponder.

We just got back from the Florida State Rally, there were quite a few Airstreams listed. We visited friends in Melborne at the Land Yacht Park and they had several listed on their board as well.

Beth, can you tell a little about the two sightings you mentioned yesterday? Length, apparent condition? Thanks

Georgia- I PM'd you about what I know. Took me awhile to remember. I see so much on each journey. I found a Sovereign last week, but we haven't been back to negotiate. Thinking about parting it out if the price is right.

There is a 1971 Airstream for sale in a second hand shop here on Rt. 66 in Chandler. It looks like it is about 24 or 26 feet long. The outside is in good shape as far as I can see. Inside it appears someone has been living in it and not using it for camping. There is a regular refrig. and the front couch is gone. The cabinet doors are gone in the kitchen. As I remember, the back half looks fairly stock. They were asking $3K for it, then $2,600.00. I thought that without the refrig. that was too much. I see an A/C on it, one of those aluminum colored covers. Don't know what works and what doesn't because I was afraid to get too involved for fear I would be pulling it home. I have my hands full with the Argosy right now. If anyone is interested I can give you the number of the shop. Judy

Trip

Tomorrow we depart for a few days in Quantico, Va and then on to Charleston, SC for a week and a half. My favorite part of the trip is spotting Airstreams. We pick up our 34' Limited, WBCCI #2820 at Don Mar, in SC, so if you see us on the road, high beam us. Also, I occasionally take the back roads to back yard shop for Airstreams.

See you down the road!

Found a GOODIE!

Almost caused a wreck turning around to get to this one!

Wish me luck ... I'm going to try to buy it this week. (not for sale?? )

Sure look almost all original. Belly pans are flawless - unbelievable!

I think it is a 1959. I know it is a Caravanner

That's a dandy, Driftwood. A '58 Caravanner sold on eBay in December for $7,600. Item #4511762497.

Man, that would look so cool behind a '59 Desoto!

I always like to see another '59.

Nice looking '59. Was it unlocked so you could get interior pictures? Don't suppose you wrote down the serial number? That would help ID it. Best of luck. Let us know the result of your convincing the owner to sell.

Here's the ID. The license plate was from Michigan. I'm in Florida now.

I can't make out the last two but the first three indicate a 22 footer made in '59. The next is a one indicating its at least the 100th one made at that plant in this particular model. That is indeed a great trailer.

Just got back from a round trip haul out to Las Vegas. On the way out and back, we saw no less than 23 Airstreams running up and down the highways, mostly on I-10 going and on I-40 headed back. Only a half dozen or so returned my "high-beam hello". All were trailers except for 2 classic MH's - one of which we saw in Deming, NM - what looked like a nice little 310. Crossing over Hoover Dam I think we got more gawks and points from the tourists than the dam did!

On another note, we were buffeted so badly by the wind heading out there that both rockguards (s'cuse me - segment protectors) were literally being ripped from their quick release mounts, and I finally just had to remove them completely and stow them inside.

Found the 250 in San Francisco...owners were there too. Had a nice chat with them for about 1/2 hour. Mine is the 280. The trailer was at a car mart in Novato, CA. Don't know if it sold.

Was that you I saw parked in Deming one week ago yesterday? The unit was about 100 yards from where we were parked.

No, I've never been there. You'll be able to recognize mine by the flames coming out of the wheelwell, the 454 Chevy insignia, and the "Mom" decal on the front sides. Also has paintball splatter stickers on the sides and fake bullet hole stickers on the radiator.

Airstream sighting

Yesterday I saw a single axle Globe Trotter for sale in Round Rock, TX.
The owners phone number is 512-255-0887.
This trailer look to be in good shape and was polished not too long ago.

Drive north

Saw a bunch of trailers at Don Mar RV in SC and Safford RV in VA. On the road, we saw a B-Van at South of the Border. Saw another Airstream trailer in NC at exit 145 noryhon I-95 in NC at the Shoney's...WBCCI 2590. Then, hooked up with a newer Airstream trailer heading north out of the KOA on Exit 154 in NC, and pulled with them for a ways. Dropped out trailer off at Safford RV to get a few things Don Mar did not do right fixed....that's another story.
