My wife and I enjoy looking for other Airstreams........

and are tickled we are not alone. We drove to and from Melbourne, Florida, over Friday and Saturday, December 10-11th, to attend a corporate Christmas function. We saw a total of 8 Airstreams over the two days, heading either north or south, depending on our own direction at the time. We fooled ourselves a couple of times, believing the "obvious" and "unmistakable" shape headed towards us was an Airstream, only to realize it was tractor-trailer sized stainless milk carrier once it got closer. Heading north out of Florida and into Georgia on I-75, should you stop at the first rest stop (mile post 5), you can see a 31' Airstream parked in the campground across from the rest stop fence. It hasn't moved in over 3 years. Does anyone know anything about that unit?

I was on RT 1 going north when I caught that unmistakeable silver glint out of the corner of my right side. Quick look and there she sat a newer Safari/Bambi at a RV storage and consignment place. Just had to go back and check it out. Sure enough, 2004 19' FOR SALE! The lot man just tossed me the keys and told me to have a look. It's a real cutie, hardly been used, Stratus interior, flat screen tv. If anyone is interested, I will find out more info......

Another in my neighborhood

In Harrisonville, MO off of 71. I think 70s probably a Sovereign (definitely bigger than our Tradewind). It's never been there before (I always look at the cows near there). Has "office" on the door. Maybe they'll find their way here.

Hummmm. THe rear axle is undoubtedly from the Ford, so the Airstream axle is gone. And that means, in turn, that the Airstream is no longer ON the road. (Guess maybe it might be counted as an off-road vehicle?)

On vacation in "The Villages" in Florida, we were able to find an Argosy RV (for sale), an Avion 16', a 34' late 70's early 80's Excella Limited?, and a probable 60s 25' - hard to get a good look at this one.

There were a few others, but those were the major finds.

Well I don't know if this qualifies as a true Airstream sighting because it only involves the last 2 feet of one.
I got off the Disney Wonder cruise ship 2 days ago and in the Route 66 lounge area there is the rear end of a mid '60 vintage, with all the lights lit, up against a wall in front of the Wave Bands bar.
The ship was refurbished 8 months ago and I don't know if it's original to the design, but I'm sure it's the only AS crusing around the Carribian.

Yesterday on a trip to Santa Fe (a very sad trip -- to bring our doggie to the crematorium) -- I saw both an older 20+ ft. Airstream and a 20+ ft. Argosy. Both were parked and apparently unused. They're on the south side of the Old Las Vegas Highway, which parallels I25 heading toward the east of town (toward Las Vegas, of all things). The crematorium is at mile marker 9, and the two rigs were somewhat before that, around mile 7 or 8, I'd say.

Thank you for the thoughts! It was not as if we didn't know this was coming. She had a degenerative bone disease. Yesterday morning, though, was a real setback for her, when she was unable to move at all. That's when we called the vet and made final arrangements. But it was hard, hard, hard to say goodbye.

That's the way it was with our kitty too, no matter how much you know you need to put an animal to sleep, its still very difficult - do something nice for yourselves this weekend.........

Talking On those back country roads

They weren't Airstreams, but found an Argosy and an Avion for anyone interested. Not sure it they are for sale, but the Argosy was sitting in a lot surrounded by brush and weeds. The Avion was in the back part of a driveway. Both of them in small, dreary, little towns in eastern Kansas.

That's what I do on Fridays, search the backroads for those people who want to get the "big silver thing" out of their yard, field, barn, ... whatever.

I'll keep on looking.

Oh, we'll bury the sorrows with the spring break ski crowd. The spring break season from points east begins tomorrow and ends in two weeks. We'll be buried in work -- the best way I know to wipe out one's capacity to ponder.

We just got back from the Florida State Rally, there were quite a few Airstreams listed. We visited friends in Melborne at the Land Yacht Park and they had several listed on their board as well.
