On 12/26 we headed down for our annual Christmas/New Year's trip to Walt Disney World. On the way down I saw two Airstreams headed north on I-75. Unusually low number for a trip from Atlanta to central Florida.

On the way back yesterday I also saw one vintage AS about 30' or so in not too good of condition and one Argosy on I-75, but the unusual thing was that I saw two triple axel Avions within 10 minutes of each other heading south on the Florida turn pike between Orlando and the toll booth just south of the last service plaza south of I-75!

They Saw us First!!

On December 31st, 2006 we were headed westbound on 71. 25 miles west of Austin, Texas we noticed some flashing headlights. It was then that we saw #5949 going eastbound. We flashed our lights and waved as we meet with smiles. They had another airstream behind them but it did not have any numbers. We spend New Year's at a friend's cabin on Lake Buchanan.

This morning we dropped our '68 tradewind off at the repair place for some electrical fix-ups- and had to remove the skylights for the trip. At 10pm we noticed what could be some nasty fog, or rain- who knows up here... I immediately remembered my girl was sitting topless in a foreign yard! So we loaded the truck with a ladder, skylights, and towels and went to make her decent. That was successful (=no cops), and as a bonus, parked next to her was a newish bambi with a poor little dent in her hindquarters! >>license plate: CA - 'lil zep'

ANYONE???

Minnie Mate's siting

We were on I-75 heading north yesterday between 1 & 3. We have a 1977 31' Sovereign pulled by a 2002 White Avalanche. Was that us in the not so good condition?

The one I saw was in the south bound side of I-75. I believe it was being towed by a silver Chevy truck with a cover over the bed or a lot of "stuff" in the bed. I noticed a pretty large dent in the road side front corner.

Look forward to meeting you and your wife at the Florida Can Opener this weekend.

I hope everyone was Ok. Was this anyone here???

I'm not sure, but I think we saw this accident too. We were returning from Disney World on November 12, 2006 and saw the upside down Airstream on northbound I-95 just south of the FL-528 interchange. By the time we went by traveling southbound, they had righted the truck and pushed the trailer, now upside down, off the highway onto the shoulder so they could restore one lane of traffic. It looked like a long trailer, 30 foot or more, and had a blue stripe on the side. There was nothing in our local papers in the days afterwards.

Eyeballed an Airstream trailer and TV heading south on I-75 just north of Dalton GA on December 27, 2006 around 6:00 p.m. Traffic was jammed and we were exiting to follow a Garmin provided detour (that worked very well) when we saw the Airstream just past the exit stopped in the right lane with everyone else.

We were on the way back to Austin on Highway 71. We saw a parked Airstream just west of the Pedernales River. It was #1489 and it is not listed in our 2006 Membership Directory.

Here are two that we spotted over New Years in Malibu. Notice the pink flamingos. Never did see their people. There was also an Excella but somehow I missed getting a picture of it.

altho... i DID spot an AS passing me headed east on 98 in FL at just a few minutes past noon yesterday... just off the eastern side of the 3 mile bridge. didn't catch the number... and there was a beautiful sovereign parked down close to the beach at "Camping on the Gulf" campgrounds in Destin FL on the 1st.

A/S in Biloxi, Ms

Seen these in Biloxi, Ms during our work there in November 06. The one at the Salvation Army site had been converted into an office. FWIW it was not owned by the Salvation Army.
Best,

Saw a FOR SALE AS in Deming NM!!

Hello all -

Been in Silver City in SilverToy (irony or sincronicity??) since 12/27.... Too much snow/ice to get home to ABQ all week.... off to T of C tomorrow.... We'll see

Saw a "For Sale" AS just outside Deming. Looks to be a 20' -ish, 80's unit - no condition other than OK looking at 55mph+, asking price on the windows was $2500. Didn't notice the window shape or anything other than the streetside aspect. Will take photos and post as soon as I get home and have connectivity with all the right cords... Not ready on this trip... Will have everthing on the next trip.

WILL stop and get the details on the unit tomorrow. Hoping for WiFi at the next stop!!!! Will get a phone number as well. Anyone interested, check back tomorrow.

Axel

Red face

Here we were, the last milestone on the trip home, Liberty Hill TX. I was tired, and savaged by cedar fever, my son at the wheel, but not too tired to register the mild aluminum glow from the local for sale lot as we passed by. Was that an old Airstream, parked at the very lot where I purchased my 73 Sovereign only a few weeks ago? It could not be, not a real classic taunting me. I searched for it the next morning but darkness denied me. So why would this small aluminum wonder tug at me all day long? I mean, I had my project, all 31 feet of it, and while the things to do list grew daily, tires, air conditioning and heat, it was basically solid. Sure the plumbing project had been started, but still wanted lines from the pump to the system, and yes a hint of sag in her tail and some past reframing did nag at me. But what if…what if the price and condition of that old Airstream was too good to pass up? Hum, “hi honey, I just bought another Airstream!” She would look out among the three boats and the Sovereign International Land Yacht and…”See honey, there is room over there…and I can sell the Sov once I finish it, and of course a couple of the boats”…. No, that probably would not fly… But surely, I could eliminate the need for a new tow vehicle, that would save me a bundle! Gasp! This discussion bounced around my skull all day. What if the price was right and the condition good? What if….

Four O Clock…nine hours, short day and I turned my ride out of Austin and back towards home. It would not hurt to stop...I mean the forum needs more pictures! My mind drifted to a vision of warm wood paneling and vintage fixtures. There she is, disappointment, out of budget range…and in need of so much….but still…with a bit of work???? Maybe, just maybe someone will buy this and end my misery!

PS: Do I get extra credit for the polished panel?
