Driving up Hwy 101 the Northern California and Oregon Coast seeing tons of SOBs but only about three Airstreams the entire trip. Did have an interesting comment this morning in Crescent City, California from a lady looking at my 2012 International "you've really dont a good job of restoring that old trailer". When I told her it was a 2012 model she was shocked, she was positive Airstream had gone out of business years ago.

Camping in north Louisiana and met a great couple in a 2008 international 23' yesterday from Alabama. There also was a gorgeous 280 motorhome drive through like he was looking for a spot, but he never stopped! Would like to have gotten a better look at that one.

Found this in the pics my wife took last summer at Theodor Roosevelt National park, in North Dakota. The camp host seemed pretty excited to see us roll into camp.

Missouri Bambi/Sunday 7/22

We were traveling North on I-29 in Missouri.
We saw a 50s/60s Bambi traveling south on I-29 at mile marker 119 (just south of the Iowa border.) We think it was pulled by a white Jeep but aren't certain because we were too busy looking at your cute trailer.

We have stalked this one since before we were AS owners... Up north they are few and far between.
This one up close is in not great shape, major hail damage and rocks. It has parted here for at least 4 years.
Looks like they use it as a guest house.
Any guesses on the year?

I think mid or late 80s. Script Airstream logo, dark blue stripe (as opposed to the lighter blue of the mid 90s), dark windows, Excella on the tank cover... It looks a lot like my parents' 1987 Airstream.

Looks like my 1983 Excella, except that mine has block letters vs. the script. Probably newer than mine.

I've noticed that many people have said "Spotted an Airstream at this location on this date and time. Was that anyone on this forum?" Rarely does anyone ever say "That was me!" I wonder why not.

So far I've come up with the simple explanation that the owner is not on the forum or that the owner doesn't have Internet access while traveling. Both would easily explain the lack of response. Another reason might be that the owner is on vacation and doesn't want to post that they are away from home. Once those who are traveling are back home, though, it sure would be nice to hear from you.

If you have Internet access while traveling, but don't want to tell the whole world that you aren't at home, maybe a PM to the person who spotted you would be a nice response. If you were spotted near where you settled down for the night, you just might get an invitation to visit a fellow forum member.

Just some thoughts. I always watch for Airstreams, but don't always get to share that I spotted one.

My wife and I were recently traveling to northern Michigan (towing our boat, not the Airstream) to spend two days on the Inland Waterway that runs from Petoskey to Cheboygan. At a rest stop, we ran into a couple in a red pickup with a kayak on top and they were towing a 25' Safari, I believe. They were also headed north, maybe to get a jump start on the rally!

I did not have a camera with me, and I completely forgot that I could use my iPad to take a photo!

Most AS owners either do not the forums exist or do not care. Jim

On the occasion that I saw an AS that I felt like I knew who it was, I PM to say I saw them.

On the other hand when we were on our way back from Arkansas recently, riverone took a picture of us on I-30 and posted it and I saw it when i got home and acknowledged same.

So sometimes it happens......

in this case see posts 3098 and 3104 of this thread.
